SEC will have 16 teams, Big 10 already has 14 and the ACC has 16 already. I'm guessing the BIG 12 is the Power 5 conference that's about to dissolve, cause they already only had 10 teams. Wonder if the PAC-12 stays at 12 or not...

Kind of weird... could potentially just see some renaming happen for certain conferences. You could really break the FBS into 4 major conferences/regions at this point. Northeast, Southeast, Northwest and then Midwest (not enough high level schools in the Southwest)

The attorneys for OU and TX will find some loopholes in the bylaws to join the SEC in 2022. This isn’t ending with Oklahoma and Texas playing 4 lame duck seasons in the Big 12. Both schools highly intend to enter the SEC in 2022 and will try to pay as little as possible in its conference buyout.

I feel much better about this if it is delayed until 2026. That gives us plenty of time to rebuild and means that Saban is likely gone from Bama by then.

I highly doubt it will be that long. A&M and Missouri were admitted the following year after being announced in Summer 2011. Oklahoma, Texas, and the SEC will find a way.

It would be a lot of money to break those TV contracts.
$70 something million apiece! But with their addition, the SEC Network per team per year supposedly goes up to $60 million apiece…and it’s not like those teams are hurting. Sign off on a few marketing deals and it’s a virtual non-issue. Believe it…the bean counters were on this a long time ago.

Mandel posing all the right questions. Or worse, why should Oklahoma risk coming to the SEC and being a Tennessee?

Oklahoma stood on the doorstep of sustained mediocrity & irrelevance in the 1990s in a much weaker conference... it can happen again, and is certainly more likely to happen in the SEC.

Said no Vol fan ever?

I bet they find a way to not pay that much. I mean ****, what if the BIG12 dispands in a couple of days after all this news. The dominos have just begun to fall.
Big 12 still has financial obligations that aren’t going away. And if you have money coming to you IN WRITING? Google the Spirit of St Louis basketball franchise.
