Why is there such a pride to stay in SEC? Just because they we are a founding member isn’t a good reason. The only reason we stay is for the money, however there is no doubt our path to becoming a great program would be way easier in the ACC. Isn’t the whole point of football winning games and having a chance at the title game?
There is still tradition and history. Tennessee belongs in the SEC. There is zero chance that we ever leave this conference. And that is the way it should be.

And one of the reasons why the college playoffs have gotten boring to watch. The road least travel syndrome.
Paying players should help. We'll have more than 4 schools contending soon. Enough school have rich boosters that Bama Clemson OSU won't get all the studs anymore. Now that Bama isn't the only school allowed to buy players, talent should start to spread out a little.

The days of top recruits choosing schools for schools are over. It's money first, and then a big gap for the #2 criteria. I hope our boosters are up to the challenge, it's a great opportunity for schools with rich fan bases to level the playing field.

Exactly right. The gap will widen... I hope our guys are up for it.

Other than Oklahoma, does Texas actually have any other big rivalries in the Big 12? I'm guessing Oklahoma's only other big rival would be Oklahoma State?

I would be so mad if I were a Texas or an Oklahoma fan. Tradition continues to die in college football and that is sad.
I doubt their fans are upset about tradition (the big 12 isn't even that old) as much as they are about their road to the playoffs being ten times harder now. I'm guessing they're betting on playoff expansion making conference strength less of an obstacle.

Was the gap closing? Face it CFB has been dead for a few years now. Saban broke the game. The last national championship was one of the least watched in the last decade and everyone was locked inside. It’s not competitive anymore and every other team is scrambling to find a way to become relevant. This is what happens.

If they move, you could argue they have more rivals in the SEC with aTm and OU.

The gap between rich and poor will widen. The gap between Clemson/Bama and everyone else will start to close.

NIL will change the game forever. This is not in question. It will not be an equal playing field.

In other words, It's more than just coaching now.
