From a friend:

"My contacts at Vanderbilt tell me emotions are mixed and their vote is up for grabs. 11 SEC teams have to agree. Texas A&M is opposed. Suggestions are A&M leaked the details in order to build support against the move since it was being done behind close doors without much opposition. Debate within Vanderbilt is if we stay in the SEC we have to commit more than the $300 million commitment recently made or start talking to the ACC. If the answer is to recommit, many are pushing for a billion dollar influx to signal to other SEC teams we aren't going to be your automatic door mat in all sports, except baseball, golf, lacrosse, bowling, and tennis. There is talk of expanding the sports we participate in as well.
Interesting times . . . "

Also mentioned rumor the SEC might balloon into ~30 teams and leave the ACC and Big10 to fight to be the last conference alive (because let's face it - the Pac12 and Big12 are dead).
Update: Vanderbilt is voting in favor of adding OU and Texas.

I’ll be honest I love the idea of bringing in Texas and Oklahoma to an already stacked conference the games are going to be awesome to watch, but the playoff formats has to change with it, that’s my biggest beef with fairness from parity perspective. They have to make it a 12 team playoff if they do this.
I believe they will, soon.

Former players would be ashamed if the program they played for ran away from the SEC like a bunch of wusses.
Many are already ashamed at what we are as a program now and haven’t been inside Neyland in years. In fact, I couldn’t even watch a couple games last year because they refused to turn it on because of how mad they were. Many offered to come help coach and make the program better and were shunned.

Thought that was already the plan.

Then they wouldn’t be choosing UT for UT.
The days of top recruits choosing schools for schools are over. It's money first, and then a big gap for the #2 criteria. I hope our boosters are up to the challenge, it's a great opportunity for schools with rich fan bases to level the playing field.
