I personally don't mind it. At first I did not like Texas and OU joining the SEC, but the more I think about it, the more I like it.
It would make the path for Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Oklahoma to get to the SEC championship/playoff a bit harder, which means maybe we may get something other than a Bama/Clemson/Ohio St/Oklahoma playoff.
Also, what difference would it make for Tennessee? We already play Bama, Georgia and Florida every year. Just levels the playing field some.

All this has probably been discussed but I am late to the party.

It's the Prisoner's Dilemna for the remaining Big 12 teams. Do you work for the collective good to stay together, add teams, and keep Texas and OU on the hook for what they owe under the grant of rights through 2025? Or do you look for a soft landing spot for your school that makes sure your school is taken care of? If 4 more schools do that, then the Big 12 dissolves, and there is no organization left to sue to enforce the grant of rights.

Realignment is very interesting because it reveals in a cold harsh light just what each school is worth. While there have been many "reports" about schools reaching out to conferences, we're about to find out whether being one of the few basketball blue bloods but bringing nothing in football gets you invited to the B1G, or whether Texas Tech and Okie State can parlay their modest success and central time zone footprint into PAC-12 membership. It's going to be very humbling for some schools.
Big12 needs to act fast or they're toast. Especially after the West Virginia AD said they were interested in joining the ACC. They need to get Cincy, Memphis, SMU, BYU, Boise etc. Maybe even UCF though it doesn't make geographic sense. If they don't then they're toast. Those schools would relish the opportunity to join a Power 5. The league would just have to suffer through the moniker of being a weak conference. But at this point you're either a weak conference or a conference in the history books beside the Big East.

Commissary and Central were the two big names that I liked the most, but they had started to go down hill when I last was there 6 or 7 years ago. Some guys on here had recommended some lesser known ones that are apparently amazing, so I'm watching this to see if some of them get recommended. I don't remember the names.

Also, remember the I40 bridge is still out for another few weeks, so traffic will probably be an absolute nightmare.
I’m sitting at Commissary right now. Smells good enough! Lol and I actually made it up here pretty fine. Getting out of here within the hour so hopefully beat the after work traffic as well

When all the i’s are crossed and t’s dotted (yes intentional), this upcoming season(s) are going to be untenable for Oklahoma and Texas as is. Can’t imagine the political imbroglio after a longer stretch.
They can't stick around for the TX Lege to go back into session in 2023 and have a chance to scuttle this.

Also can't let your recruiting hollow out when you are promising 2-3 years in a lame duck league that you have just implicitly admitted is inferior. Much better to tell the 2022's they will be playing in the SEC from the start.

Moran, you say?
I can't believe I have not used that pic many times to reply sarcastically to morans before..but yes...it is Mt Moran, named after the artist Thomas Moran.

I haven't used it because I didn't think anybody would get the joke because most people have no idea that is the name of that mountain.

I think I will start..

IDT it matters so much how the divisions shake out. The endgame is to create big ratings with high-profile pairings every Saturday, so expect everything to be filtered through that lens to maximize ratings/dollars. The conferences and networks are going to look to preserve or resurrect old rivalries, create new ones and shape storylines that can drive interest and pre-sell games. That's what the conferences and schools have been discussing.

I wouldn't be surprised to see UT pick up Auburn as a division rival, keep Bama/TSIO as a division or crossover game, add Oklahoma as a manufactured rivalry game and Texas as a UT-UT matchup (Battle of the UTs ). Networks can build storylines and frame narratives around all of those, while creating marquee matchups with teams supported by large, loyal fanbases. And they can promote them across multiple marquee sports with a built-in appeal for for MBB, WBB, baseball and softball, as well as football.

Do you think the SEC will try to add more teams besides OU and TX? I am assuming with the expansion in the playoff, the SEC will be able to add around 4 teams. They may even get a 3 loss team in the playoff.

Texas will also make more money in this ever changing climate, even with losing the LHN. With more fans watching TV instead of attending games, more fans will be inclined to attend games in Austin when they’re drawing Florida, Texas A&M, Alabama, and LSU instead of Texas Tech, Kansas, Iowa St, and TCU. There will be marquee games again in Austin and Norman.

Follow the money. Building a Super Conference with big brands and marquee matchups will make the SEC even more powerful, the ratings even higher and the deals more lucrative. It's all about who can do what where to make the rich even richer.
