In college they don’t get heat as much. When that happens in the majors, especially in a World Series.. it’s a talking point for days
That's fair, and she's the same age as those college kids it happens to.

Also, maybe your girlfriend is more empathetic towards her situation because she might have a better grasp of the effects of sexual assault.

It cannot be denied that Biles was dealing with a lot. News of her being molested, be a national icon, dealing with unfair judging of her abilities/moves, constant media, etc. Had she overcome all of that and still won gold that would be incredible, but it's also okay that she didn't. I think all that people defending her are trying to say is that it's okay that she failed and is dealing with stuff and... hasn't she already done enough to deserve our admiration and respect?

They were a factor. But not the most difficult variable. That hike there (Lake of the Crags). Is not on the park systems map (evidently for a reason lol ☠️). We had to climb 3k feet in a few hours to summit and that was hard because it was so instant. And literal climbing/bouldering.
nice

A guy dies and is sent to hell. Satan meets him, shows him doors to three rooms, and says he must choose one to spend eternity in. In the first room, people are standing in poop up to their necks. The guy says, ‘No, let me see the next room.’ In the second room, people are standing in poop up to their noses. Guy says no again. Finally Satan opens the third room. People are standing with poop up to their knees, drinking coffee and eating pastries. The guy says, ‘I pick this room.’ Satan says Ok and starts to leave, and the guy wades in and starts pouring some coffee. On the way out Satan yells, ‘OK, coffee break’s over. Everyone back on your heads!’

This stinks like the devil.

Just returned from getting round two of the gel injection in my left knee. This time, he pulled a small amount of fluid off before the injection. He told me most patients start feeling a noticeable difference after the 2nd one. Oh, can't remember who requested it, but doc said the gel injections have not shown to be beneficial in shoulder joints at this time since , more often than not, there is a tear in the labrum or rotator cuff.

You mean if they go pitch two terrible innings and pull themselves off the mound because they know they ain't got the stuff that day and their team has a better chance to win with them in the dugout?

That happens all the time in baseball. Happened multiple times during the CWS.
There's a difference in not having it physically. If she were injured, no one would complain. I do admire her for admitting it was not physical. She could have said it was physical and no one would have thought very much. She is being perceived as not being mentally tough, when she has demonstrated before that that is not the case. Something has happened to change it. I have thought about this a lot. I am feeling less critical now than I was, but I still don't totally get it.

Did you ask him about injecting breast milk?

;)

My girlfriend and I got in a fight over Biles lol. She was on her side. My point was that if Shohei Ohtani or Jacob DeGromme dropped out of a start at the World Series because their “head isn’t in it” then they would be chastised to the the end of the earth. Simone Biles is getting off easy.

They are also under multi million dollar contracts. It doesn't compare at all.

Not up to us to "get it". I'm not unlike you. I think about all she's overcome, all the work, all the blood, sweat, and tears, everything, just to get to this moment....and then she drops out. It doesn't make sense to me. But it did to her, and that's all that matters. She didn't have it that day, and she knew it. She did what was best for her and her health. Not gonna hold that against her.

See Pat there's this thing called Scholarship Restrictions & signing caps that Greg Sankey allows to keep happening. All his buddy Saban has to do is drive up hwy to Birmingham to SEC offices for tea and crumpet. The very rules enacted to create parity have created monopolies.

Take your stats and shove em.

You're right, because if Biles had kept competing they could've lost a medal and/or she could have seriously injured herself, whereas if a pitcher keeps throwing a bad game they'll just lose a game. It's been stated multiple times that it's likely they medaled BECAUSE she stepped away. She was one disaster away from everyone losing.
If a pitcher isn't in it mentally they could lose the world series or a batter could hit the ball of their face and seriously injure him. The pitcher could just skip the start and hope his teammates are good enough to pick up the slack and still win the world series.

I will finally respond to this one by pointing to a discussion I heard last night. First, I would lean toward Biles quitting too, but it’s different than “dropping out of a start” because Biles “started.”

The discussion last night said that Biles was mentally off on her routines. I can’t recall the exact phrase but something like a “air twist funk.” They compared it to a pitcher not finding home plate or a golfer with the yips. She had apparently warmed up the same way where she couldn’t get it down.

I would circle back to the pitcher- when a pitcher can’t find home plate, the manager takes him out. I can’t relate to gymnastics, therefore, I have no idea. I have pitched, and I have played golf, and I can relate to getting in a funk that takes a time to get out of. Just an interesting perspective that I heard.

I'm not going to get on her for pulling out because I have zero idea what she goes through.
I will say this: It shows how little the Olympics mean in today's sports landscape. Edwin Moses won 104 consecutive 400 Meter Hurdle Finals. Stressed? I'm sure, and he would never have pulled out of the Olympic for any reason except death.

That's a good take... but if your the proclaimed "goat", that can't happen... MJ never yanked himself out.. same for Brady, or whoever else you can put that title on.. that's what makes them great... they rise to the occasions even when they're having an off night..

We are a week away from fall camp. I am irrationally excited for a football season where we are probably going 7-5 again.
I'm going with 8-4. 7-5 I think is a safe bet but I think we will surprise some people and hopefully come out on top of at least one of those surprises.

MJ misses buckets on an off night. Brady overthrows receivers. Biles could break her spine and paralyze herself if she misfires on a triple-double 12ft in the air. The risks are not the same.

that's understandable.. but she gets to do this on this stage once every 4 years.. why was she not in the right state of mind.. this is her job.. it is her responsibility to have herself physically and mentally prepared to perform.. idk.. mixed feelings on it.. sucks for her and everyone involved

No way in haiti we give up that many schollies over something that former coaches did. If we do we are chickin @#$ central. The NCAA is a paper tiger, no other major program would ever do this and I don't see us doing it either. I don't see anything major happening to us, the NCAA has slapped to many wrist when they had the school caught red handed. LSU,North Carolina,Miami, if they dare try to come down hard on us we should take them to court period. Nobody is happy with how the NCAA has been doing things, to punish a school that has acted pro actively once they found out if would be a farce for them to come down hard. And I think Tennessee would win on appeal. Now losing a few scholorships and maybe a 1 year bowl ban at most. Anything else, fight their butt all the way to the highest court if you have too. The said about a year ago, they were going to make a effort to punish the guilty party and not the entire University especially if was not part of it. We are watching! GBO!!!!!
