Still cringeworthy every time I see it

Zero issue with BM transferring. Dude is 4th string. It's better for everyone if he bows out and gives whatever reps he had to the other three guys. Go somewhere else and use this year to learn that system and win the job next year.

The issue is the same issue he's had from day one. The inability to look at a social media post for 10 seconds and make sure it's really something you want to put out there. No one likes a sore loser, including other schools who might give you a spot.

All this talk about loving your other QBs and your teammates. Not doing them any favors to imply the coaches screwed you over out of the job. Especially when you had damn near 20 practices before they cut your reps. CJH could have easily made him 3rd/4th string in the second week of Spring but he didn't.

i feel for the guy. i feel for any guy who went through the clusterf*ck that was the pruitt era. he was a good teammate anyway--he was always pumping JG and other guys up on the sidelines. looked like he had good energy most of the time. seems most are criticizing him for living what seems to be a very normal 18-19 year-old's life, just his is constantly under the microscope by media and forums full of grown men because he's a quarterback at a major university. i dunno, i wish him the best.

I'm just sad he recently posted something like, "I will always bleed orange," then quit on the team (if he has).

I think you can really love a place like tennessee and also see the writing on the wall (or it seems like maybe they told him outright) that you’re not going to get playing time, and have to do what’s best for you after not getting much playing time the past two years. Tough situation, but I don’t think leaving is his first choice, seems it’s being made for him. He’s good enough to start somewhere and he’s not really hurting us by leaving so, best of luck.

So mental health is only taken seriously if you're a star athlete? Got it.

I'm sure I've heard this dilemma addressed before; about how players that are a potential to not make the roster will cover up or ignore injuries because if they addressed them they would likely not make the roster. I'm sure that's fantastic for Jalen Hurd's mental health. "Ignore your mental health issues because we can just cut you."

Ok, so if you have someone who has worked for you for years and is a super star and then has some issues, you probably give them a break and do whatever you can to help. If you hire someone and they haven't produced since you hired them for 2 years and you have given them every chance in the world and helped them through their medical issues, then you probably at some point would say enough is enough.

The double standard is if you have someone who has produced for you and your team over years of time you give them more room/time versus someone new who hasn't.

One other note, you are making a super broad assumption that Jalen Hurd has mental health issues versus just maybe he doesn't like football anymore or maybe he has lingering knee issues or issues from multiple concussions...

The best case is the 49ers put him on IR for a bit until he heals physically or mentally.

Maurer isn't seeing the bigger picture or the opportunity he has here. He's only seeing the "me" and "right now" point of view. That's not good for a teammate or leader. He trained to play, he wants to, I dont blame him for being let-down or irritated. He needs to grow-up some and look at options that give him the best opportunity for future personal success.

In the bigger picture, he could learn from Heupel and Halzle, and train to be a coach. His future is probably not a pro player, but he could adjust his attitude and goals and become a heckuva coach.

Imo anyway.
I don't understand why he would not train under them for a year then go find a team in the portal at the end of the year when you're a much better player. What does he, or any player, gain by going in now? They can't play for another team now can they? Just be practicing with the new team? Are many teams taking players now?
