Why? He caught lightning in a bottle at UCF
This. Frost had the recruits because of the guy he replaced not because of what he did. Yet people still call him a good coach.

Huepel was the real recruiter / coach at UCF everyone saying Huepel had Frosts recruits…. Huepel was there for 3 years…. Frost was not. Frost left because he knew he wouldn’t be able to win anymore with UCF.

Are y'all leaving???

Not initially. The issue this far inland tends to be flooding, not really wind damage (tho we’ll have to see about that with this one). Our house is in a high part of town and we’ve got landscape drainage, so we’re usually okay on that front. We’ll lose power for sure (the energy company here said some will be without for three weeks), but our house has an in-line generator, so we’ll stick around until running it just gets too expensive. Wife’s family has a spot in Florida so we’ll head there or Atlanta if we split.

Most of my New Orleans friends left though, thankfully.

Question for the recruiting die hards. Aside from Nolen who else do we look good for? Doesn't appear to be much else out there.

I can assure you I'm not trolling, some of you know me. I've avoided this forum after the Hype hire. I've lurked from time to time but have been struggling with being down on this program, felt like a broken record.

There will be a lot of “unknown” guys pop up over the course of the year. More than usual since this will be the first time coaches have been able to go watch guys in over two years. See the new LB we just offered out of Memphis after one high school game.

Honestly..IMO there will be no excitement in recruiting this year, I just hope to get some good solid players that you can compete with and build on.

You're either a Vol or you're not...I made up my mind to just go with it.

So I just bought a camper and am planning on going to ole miss game. Does anyone know how to get spots and where at? @SmokinBob i know you have one. Can you help out?
I can't help if you're trying to get a spot in-town or on campus. If you're looking for a spot in the area, look at camping areas around Holly Springs National Forest and Sardis Lake. Puskus Lake Campground is another option right outside of Oxford.

Stay safe. Prayers for everybody down that way. Our daughter has good friends in Thibodaux who are going to ride it out. I've seen how these storms can do. Rode out the weaker side of Camille as a teenager with my family in Pensacola in 1969. Owned a NC island condo that saw a couple 15+ years ago. I worked relief on the Mississippi coastline from Ocean Springs through Pass Christian after Katrina. I've never seen a bigger path of total destruction than along the beach highway on the western side of Gulfport around Pass Christian. If Ida is that bad or worse it's not going to be pretty.

When you are working these relief efforts you get a sick sense of humor at times to cope with it all. The only thing left standing on the ocean side of the levee in Pass Christian was the partially broken golden arches sign of a McDonalds that was facing perpendicular to the beach. So we drove through and placed our orders where the invisible drive through used to be. Saw some really weird sights, like a two story house about 5-6 rows back that was intact on the second floor with nothing but some studs left on the bottom floor holding it up - with no other buildings in sight for a half mile in either direction. Nothing but blue roofs on the safe side of the levee for as far as you cared to go. Devastating.

So you don’t think he left to coach for his alma mater?....🤔

Basically where I'm at, my hope is that we can develop players. Obviously we've recruited well in the past but we lacked development. It's really our only hope at this point.

I believe Lafouche Parish (where thibodaux is) is under mandatory evac orders, so best of luck to them. First time in my life I’ve heard of mandatory evac orders here.

Yeah, some adjustments will be needed.

At the end of the day, he can’t have many regrets. He tried to fix the place he calls home. It didn’t work, but he was their only hope.

They are going to have to run the triple option or something to ever get where they want to be.
You just can’t miss on QB. And he hasn’t developed Martinez. Ultimately it was Butch’s fate as well. That’s why Heup gives me some hope. He’s developed QB’s and offenses at different places, including the SEC.

Regarding the state of recruiting and the football team I'm going to say the same thing I said and posted on here when Barnes was hired. Which also applies to Voltello.

We've got the right guy. He will prove it by winning the games we should win based on the talent we have. So schedule is critical to knowing how many. He will recruit quality players/students with good character and as much upside potential as he can find that will come. He will mix and match to create something that is unique and a bit of an unknown challenge to the better programs. After a couple of years of being OK, the recruits will start beating the doors down as they are now in basketball and baseball because by Years 3 and 4 he will have the program challenging for the East Division and likely win it at least one of those two years.

Other than Doc who will claim 15-0 til it ain't this season (actually love it), you can say I told you to book it and throw it back in my face if it doesn't happen that way unless it happens sooner.

My daughter asked them last night, hopefully they have reconsidered. But the gal she is close friends with has a husband in law enforcement, so he's going nowhere and she may not want to leave him. Will know in the morning what they decided.
