Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

Regarding the state of recruiting and the football team I'm going to say the same thing I said and posted on here when Barnes was hired. Which also applies to Voltello.

We've got the right guy. He will prove it by winning the games we should win based on the talent we have. So schedule is critical to knowing how many. He will recruit quality players/students with good character and as much upside potential as he can find that will come. He will mix and match to create something that is unique and a bit of an unknown challenge to the better programs. After a couple of years of being OK, the recruits will start beating the doors down as they are now in basketball and baseball because by Years 3 and 4 he will have the program challenging for the East Division and likely win it at least one of those two years.

Other than Doc who will claim 15-0 til it ain't this season (actually love it), you can say I told you to book it and throw it back in my face if it doesn't happen that way unless it happens sooner.

Barnes and Vitello were up against a different landscape though. They definitely overachieved but the mountain to climb in SEC football is Everest. There’s so much more money involved, and teams on top have a vested interest in keeping their foot on our neck. Then we have an issue with the NCAA.

I think Heupel is the best hire we’ve made in a long time, but to get to where we want to go, there needs to be some major shakeups elsewhere in the SEC. We need some luck in the worst way.

Done what? Thanks
Basically low calories diet. Almost intermediate fasting but I eat 500 calories or less from the time I wake (4:30am) till the time I eat dinner. (5:30pm) For dinner I can basically eat anything I want. Even a desert and beer.

Really just watch your calories and try to stay under 2000 calories (which is what everything is based on), walk a little more than normal and you will lose weight.

Cut out soft drinks and that will help a ton. (If you drink them now) I drink water, bubly, and Zevia. For dinner I splurge and drink tea or water and beer.

Lol he left because they gave him more money. But he ultimately left because he knew he wasn’t going to win anymore.

Dude had just gone 13 - 0

Name a coach that has gone undefeated at the school they were at and left the next year….. I would bet you it’s only him.
That’s just silly. Coaches want to coach at their alma mater... it’s not always a good recipe but see Harbaugh, Fitzgerald, Smart, Spurrier, Fulmer, Gundy, Chryst, etc. They leave if pushed out (Fulmer), the gig is bigger (Tedford), or want something different/new challenge (Spurrier)...
Nebraska was Frost’s dream job, I’m sure he had equal or better opportunities at the time. A big chunk of this board was all in on Frost and we were and are in better shape than them...

Funny you say that.. we usually feed them wet food. Ran out a few days ago and they’ve been eating kibble ever since until I can make it to petco. It seriously might be the issue.
I would watch the ingredients of the wet food too. I get your sense of the distinction. The lady at the pet store who turned me onto this issue almost bit my head off when I described the symptoms and fessed up to not knowing the grain allergy issue with cats. Obviously different cats have different sensitivities. I ended switching mainly to a brand marketed by Dick Van Patten.

No vet visit? The people on the cats subreddit are acting as if he’s going to lose his eye if I don’t go to the emergency 24 hour vet right now. (Which is $200 just to see him. Much less diagnose and treat)
If you have facebook. they have a group called Pet Vet Corner ℠ (ONLY APPROVED VETERINARIANS COMMENT) and only vets are allowed to address you about your problem.

Guys.. I’m really scared about my cat. It’s the weekend so my vet can’t see him, and even on Monday I doubt they’d have an appointment open.

There’s one 24 hour emergency vet that can take him, but I just can’t afford it. Emergency vets elsewhere close at midnight or are booked. I’m at a total loss and his eyes are getting worse by the hour.
My cat had an infection in his eye and they had to give him 2 different types of eye drops

heard its a bait and switch. still pricey.

Well, we will see. I will ve canceling as soon as the CFB season is over anyway. I watched a little football today and it was wonderful.

Not the game. UCLA vs Hawaii was awful. But football on my TV was a wonderful sight to behold.

We already established that I was not a smart man on August 28th, 2021.

This. Frost had the recruits because of the guy he replaced not because of what he did. Yet people still call him a good coach.

Huepel was the real recruiter / coach at UCF everyone saying Huepel had Frosts recruits…. Huepel was there for 3 years…. Frost was not. Frost left because he knew he wouldn’t be able to win anymore with UCF.

Imo Frost himself is a good coach. He made two big mistakes. He let his heart and friends make the decisions to go to Nebraska instead of what his mind was telling him was not a good fit for his system. His style of offense needs speed your not going to recruit that to freaking Nebraska. So mistake number 1 was picking Nebraska over Florida/TN. His system will only work in SEC/ACC/Big 12/Pac 12 where he can recruit the type of kid consistently that he needs. Mistake number 2 his loyalty to his entire staff. He literally took everybody… everyone from UCF to Nebraska. Blind Loyalty. He didn’t use the opportunity of going to a bigger stage to surround himself with a staff capable of succeeding on that stage. I understand take a few guys like Heupel did but you have to leave the other dudes you know can’t handle it behind and upgrade. Now that I think about it that is why Florida job didn’t work out is bc they told him no to his entire staff and looks like they were right.
