You have done well to break it down to the communication problem and lack of clarity on expectations. Also, that’s the best approach to discuss it with him one-on-one. It will make for a better work environment moving forward for both of you.
What kills coaches faster than anything is their reluctance to change who starts at QB. Practice warriors are great if that translates in an actual game, but if a qb can’t do it in crunch time then the pressure is simply too much for them. Good coaches recognize that and make the switch at QB before the game gets out of hand. Luckily history suggests Heupel doesn’t have a problem with sitting a QB who doesn’t perform in an actual game
Just a friendly reminder I was all in on Scott a Frost when that time came around
Just gotta keep it real
I think Nebraska needs to continue with Frost. Let the man get a different QB. Unless he’s lost the team or something. You can’t do anything in CFB with a terrible QB.
They still mad we got Scotty Hopson or something? Jesus.Tee Hodge is like many who left-- they don't like it when others invest more effort and take their spot. Let's see if UK takes him because of Randall Cobb and the satisfaction of "stealing" a player away from UT. UK actively tries to poach UT players and recruits using Tennessee in-state players who're at UK, and they do it in multiple sports-- men's and women's. Most of these UK players were overlooked or not highly recruited by UT in the first place, but occasionally they get a good one. Hodge just kept falling down the depth chart.
I don’t think Kirby Smart is a great coach by any means but the way he handled his QB situation last year was really good…Dwan Mathis won the starting job in practice after Jamie Newman opted out and JT was still injured, but Dwan did pretty bad against Arkansas to start the game and they immediately went to Stetson Bennett a former walk-on halfway through and he lead them down the field multiple times. This ^^^
The QB position is the most important on the field. He's an extension of the HC while reading what he sees, securing the ball, and getting it in the right hands - in a few seconds on every play. If you don't have a QB that can do that on the field you don't stand a chance of winning.
So any HC who is overly loyal to one QB over competence turns the team into a loser. Any AD who allows his HC to do that tanks the program.

Yep. Pruitt was a horrible coach, but he might still be here had he just made a change at QB during the KY game and stuck with it. Continually going back to JG turned the fans against him in a way that he could not recover from. This ^^^

I agree with this. Nebraska isn't going to do any better. They need to let Frost find a QB, and they need to cheat like crazy so that he can get better talent in there at the skill positions.I think Nebraska needs to continue with Frost. Yep. Pruitt 100% still here if just plays Bailey or Shrout for the rest of the year starting 2Q of KYYep. Frost is going to do the same thing with Martinez. He's going to let Martinez take him down and bury him
