That thing is stupid, it's already premium, give it a carbon fiber monocoque and/or ADM construction to get the shell weight down as far as possible then give it a small ICE hybrid engine with an ERS-H system to charge your battery with minimal ICE output. Cuts weight and minimal emissions, so that it's useable at least.

That feels like something a baw could build in his backyard as long as he knew anything about servos and wiring a Li-ion battery

That's definitely a toy for people with money. Elon is correct when he talks about how loud flying cars would be. Underground transit makes much more sense and will be safer.

That's all stupid. We don't need smarter cars, we need less of them on the road. It'd be so much cheaper to just rethink how we do transit, and become less dependent on cars and driving everywhere, at least in urban spaces where the majority of people live in or around. Underground personal transit doesn't make any ****ing sense, whether we're using electric cars or not. We have underground transit that works just fine.


EDIT: And this is from a dyed in the wool car enthusiast. I'd venture that a majority of Americans HATE driving. It's clear that so many people loathe it by the cars that they choose. Building streets where roads are, to allow people, at least in urban or suburban areas to be able to walk or bike to a tram/bus/subway station or shopping center or restaurant so that they wouldn't need a car would free up the roads for those of us who enjoy driving but rage when we hit traffic, especially when you hit traffic for no reason other than congestion, which the 8 figures worth of tax money spent was supposed to solve(looking at you, 24/75 split)

It's insane the amount of money auto manufacturers and oil companies spent weaseling their way into city/town layouts and planning.
They spent small fortunes influencing the layouts of towns to be as inconvenient and vehicle necessary, as possible.

Had some issues at 150K. Obviously rust underneath. The drive shaft fell out. Called Subaru directly, said it wasnt a known defect but at the time there were no drive shafts for outbacks in US. I said 'so its an issue'.

They credited $300 off the repair.

Had the usual wheel bearings & head gasket issues with Boxer engine. Great cars, ive owned two now. Great daily driver. Not good to rack up miles, why I drive a Honda now.

Wife drives a Highlander...My next car will be a Toyota. I'm a Toyota nut.

Trust me ive made offers on two Tacomas in my life, only to walk off the lot. Prices are steady as gold. Esp when theyre that nice looking. Toyota of JC called me bsck once as I was closing on a Subaru. Loved that car.

I’m not sure if that would work in America…. The majority of people with longer than average driveways…. Drive to end of it just to check the mail. LOL

What happens to your EV when the grid goes down? The same people who destroyed the nuclear program are taking down hydrocarbons and selling windmills and acreage of solar panels that will never supply enough power. Do you not think they will game the public by messing with the grid? Better have your tri and dual fuel generators handy.

It's like football. When you take away viable player options in exchange for ideas and schemes - you get theory that leads to losses when injuries and player/coach defections occur. It's happening in front of our eyes with the depleted roster this season. Great schemes and development of an increasingly smaller number of players. The remaining players get used more and it wears them down and injuries increase. Less wins.

Same with energy. One "answer" to all of our energy demands being met is a bad thing because of potentially bad actors controlling it.
