Have a nissan now. Can confirm junk status. The dashboard literally evaporates and sticks to the windshield so you can't see and you can't clean it off. Among lots of other things that suck about it.

Toyota Sienna is THE soccer mom vehicle, but my main complaint with Honda from last time I drove one was the road noise. I'll probably go with Toyota but man they make it difficult.
For whatever reason Toyota stopped selling diesels in US market, subsequently deciding not to sell Landcruiser anymore, then that leaves you with Lexus LX vehicles.

4 Runner is default soccer Mom here. Toyota makes trucks, well.

I have the 2020 Ridgeline, primarily chosen because it is easier for my wife to get in and out of with her health issues and it is a legit truck despite what you may hear. Fantastic vehicle, rides like a crossover. I added the window vent shades to handle any potential road noise because I had read that the older models had the problem. Have driven 1000 miles to the beach and back with with no issues. Highway MPG was 26-28 with economy mode. Highest payload in class at 1500 lbs and I tested it with loads of decking materials and wood flooring recently. Love the waterproof bed trunk, inverter, etc. Can handle a 5 K trailer. Mine has the paddles for off road and pulling loads.

Dodge seems to fall apart after 5 years.

Tacos are now $50K and Tundy's $60-70. Crazy. I looked at a 2019 Taco was still $40

Truck prices are insane. I just started looking and probably won’t pull the trigger til spring, cause mine is still running. Hoping prices will normalize some between and now. Hoping this isn’t the new normal.

Last time I bought a new truck was 2004, only bought a new car since. The truck now has 120,000 miles. Cost me $18,900
Looked at trucks again a few months ago and damn near coughed up a lung.

I dont understand people flipping out. We've had $3.50 gas before and used car prices have held steady for nearly 15 years, since 08 downturn.

I will say this, I could sell this CRV privately for nearly 1.5 times its real value.

? You can literally find charging stations anywhere now lol. Plus most charging times depending on size and speed of charging it’s like 30mins. For a full charge. They usually put those stations around food joints so you can just get food and come back and leave.

And it’s like 10+x cheaper than gas.
My lord man..you have limited time for a trip + 3-5,000 miles...there is no electric vehicle on earth that can or ever will make that happen, and even if they do make one, I won't be able to afford it.

What this dumb horse💩 does is effectively ground people like me. It doesn't matter to people in a higher wealth bracket, but it does to me.

What happens to your EV when the grid goes down? The same people who destroyed the nuclear program are taking down hydrocarbons and selling windmills and acreage of solar panels that will never supply enough power. Do you not think they will game the public by messing with the grid? Better have your tri and dual fuel generators handy.

It's like football. When you take away viable player options in exchange for ideas and schemes - you get theory that leads to losses when injuries and player/coach defections occur. It's happening in front of our eyes with the depleted roster this season. Great schemes and development of an increasingly smaller number of players. The remaining players get used more and it wears them down and injuries increase. Less wins.

Same with energy. One "answer" to all of our energy demands being met is a bad thing because of potentially bad actors controlling it.
My son is an EE senior at UT. In one of his classes the discussion is on EVs. Our grid is no where close to be able to handle a large switch to EVs. The surge when everyone gets home and plugs in their vehicle would cause a meltdown. They're studying ways to store energy for those peak surges.

And while screaming for all vehicles to be EVs, some insist on simultaneously shutting down as many coal plants as possible. No problem, we can magically create enough renewable sources to a) meet constantly growing base demand, while b) adding a few million EVs every year. It'll be fun. Shouldn't result in an increase in power cost at all.

Honda's are ok. But, seeing the soccer mom's routinely cut me off every day ... i'm out.

Toyota for sure.

Nissan is junk, fortunately their commercials are even worse.

I have bought 6 Nissans and loved them all, especially my 2009 Murano I got for half price in 2011 with only 25k miles. Never have had any issues and my Murano saved my life when I got clipped on the interstate at 90mph by west town mall. Ended up t-boning a semi....luckily I hit the center wheels and got thrown across 4-5 lines and slammed into the concrete divider facing oncoming traffic.

Had some issues at 150K. Obviously rust underneath. The drive shaft fell out. Called Subaru directly, said it wasnt a known defect but at the time there were no drive shafts for outbacks in US. I said 'so its an issue'.

They credited $300 off the repair.

Had the usual wheel bearings & head gasket issues with Boxer engine. Great cars, ive owned two now. Great daily driver. Not good to rack up miles, why I drive a Honda now.

Wife drives a Highlander...My next car will be a Toyota. I'm a Toyota nut.
I have a Sequoia and a Rav4...I love them. You take care of them and they will go forever.

That's all stupid. We don't need smarter cars, we need less of them on the road. It'd be so much cheaper to just rethink how we do transit, and become less dependent on cars and driving everywhere, at least in urban spaces where the majority of people live in or around. Underground personal transit doesn't make any ****ing sense, whether we're using electric cars or not. We have underground transit that works just fine.

EDIT: And this is from a dyed in the wool car enthusiast. I'd venture that a majority of Americans HATE driving. It's clear that so many people loathe it by the cars that they choose. Building streets where roads are, to allow people, at least in urban or suburban areas to be able to walk or bike to a tram/bus/subway station or shopping center or restaurant so that they wouldn't need a car would free up the roads for those of us who enjoy driving but rage when we hit traffic, especially when you hit traffic for no reason other than congestion, which the 8 figures worth of tax money spent was supposed to solve(looking at you, 24/75 split)

*End transit nerd rant*

Americans aren't going to give up the freedom of having a car. I love the idea of fast access tunnels

dang man, glad youre ok.

how many old Nissan's do you see on road? I see a bot load of Datsuns. Everyone has a personal preference.

Worked for a European start up that had a manufacturing plant in the States building batteries big enough to plug into the grid. Ability to give off energy during peak times and recharge during low demand. Company eventually filed for bankruptcy as it ran out of investors willing to keep it afloat, the last being a Russian oligarch… but the science is out there and will eventually come to market
