Now we just need Coach Banks to call the same aggressiveness on defense!! When we call aggressive, we usually make plays.

Yep for some reason we didn’t especially in the first half. Which was odd. When we play drop back we get roasted but when he get after we have succes more than not

Honestly after watching his presser, I like him. He didn't make excuses. He broke down the issues well. He has made Kentucky football relevant.

I will say though, with a school like that you need a coach like ours that can scheme you wins. Future is bright. I hope Hype can keep his staff together. If so Tennessee football is going to be so much fun to watch.
His defensive guru bona fides took a kick in the nuts. Heupel owned him.

I remember the sequence in the first quarter where the dude kept harping about Payton's knee being down and we got two extra yards. Then Hendon hit Velus for that long score and he shut right up, LOL.
Good thing Velus didn't have to run 75 yards instead of "only" 72 because that LB may have caught him LOL

Georgia is definitely due a challenge. TN is the best offense they will have faced. So far the best offense they have faced is Arkansas.

Clemson offense has proven to be awful. Vandy/UAB/S Carolina are trash offensively
Arkansas is a good offense.
Auburn is inconsistent to which offense your going to get each day
KY offense is trash most nights especially teams that can physical them up
Florida and Mizzu have quit on the seasons

Looking at Georgia schedule they may come into Neyland overconfident and get hit with some big plays and a rowdy crowd and find themselves in a ball game. I know one thing Heupel will dial some things up and key will be is can we protect it. We need Small and Evans to play bad. Wright can run but he is major liability in pass protection in Pitt game and the drives last night they came right at him last night.

One thing I love about Heupel is he won’t be walking around the team all week like they have no chance. He will make the kids believe they have a chance because he believes in his ability to coach

The incredible
Hendon Hooker's development and performance. Love this dude!!

The Good
Velus Jones
Alontae Taylor
Javonta Payton
Jabari Small
Theo Jackson
The offensive gameplan
The glorious Pick 6
Our will to win
Keeping our heads up after letting them get a 4th and 24
Many explosive plays
Beating Kentucky yet again
Finding a way to win in a close game on the road
Did I mention Hendon Hooker?
James Banks' attitude on D

The Bad
The defensive game plan and execution (very bad actually)
The pass rush
Overall play by our safeties
Giving up 600 yards
Giving up a 4th and 24
Pass protection in the red zone
We have two stud RB and can't keep them healthy
Missed FG at a pretty crucial time
The Ugly

Allowing Kentucky so many 3rd down conversions

Grades
Offense
B+ (one half a letter grade docked for a bad fumble)
Defense
D ( I know some of you think this should be an F, but that Pick 6 was critical and the wherewithal to get stops on 4th down gets some credit, too)
Special Teams
B
Some nice KO returns but the missed FG hurt.
Coaching
B (Offense A, Defense D)
Overall A
We won a very tough game.

If Dooley could land consistent Top 10 classes and Jones Land a Top 5 class, I don’t have a doubt that this staff can have success in recruiting.

To be fair, Dooley’s only top 10 class was aided by the early enrollees that Kiffin got. The next two were top 20 and really ended up with few contributors.

He would be on the bench because Milton would still be starting. Milton=JG (practice heros)
Yup, none of our previous staffs would have moved away from starting Milton.

When Heup made—and stayed with—the change, I was super impressed because I can’t remember the last time a coach realized they were wrong about a player and quickly acted on it.

Even though I understand how bad a lot of the commentators are in our games, I usually don’t complain out loud about it but the fact that ESPN was showing highlights of the recent KY wins against UT while we were ahead in the 4th quarter was really lame. They never mentioned once that Stoops was 2-6 against UT before this game. Not to mention I guarantee that the number of pro UT viewers greatly outnumbered the pro KY. It just doesn’t make a ton of sense to alienate such a large audience like that.

I don't take that as a bad thing because if you think about it, they really didn't have a lot to choose from in the archives... :)

You've got to tell us more. How quiet did it get after they failed on fourth down?
They immediately got up and left en masse. The club level was honestly really cool with the eat what you want buffet lines, open bar, etc. i probably would’ve enjoyed that experience more if they weren’t playing UT…i did not realize how much they truly hate us. The people around me were extremely hostile, calling Tennessee fans (and the band) low class. I’ve been to other games there before…even UT UK games (my wife is a UK fan)…and I’ve never experienced that level of vitriol. I guess it’s because we’re normally sitting with regular folks rather than their most diehard (and presumably wealthy) fans last night lol. Normally it’s just a little playful ribbing. This wasn’t playful. Lol

We really don’t know for certain he was wrong on Milton. It was 1 game and a quarter as starter. Hooker took the job and ran with it. He siezed the opportunity and didn’t sulk on bench because he wasn’t the starter. Heupel was willing to stick with the hot hand and ride it. Hooker hit the long ball in that first start and that sealed it for him. It also presented one heck of a long term teaching moment to the team to not give up because your not playing immediately. We have several of those stories on this team that could help with keeping kids around instead of hitting portal for Playing time. Velus/Ced/Hadden/Burrell/Theo/hooker/Carvin all dudes that waited their turn.

That crew last night was horrific and pro KY everything. Dawn the only one worth a crap on it as she has a feel for both fanbases from 3HL gig. Mowings and Morrison were all about the KY angle and not given us anything. Heck they wouldn’t call anything out on Ky
