Talent differential though as well. Pitt will defend the run much better than BG
This. I’ll be surprised if we get more than a shade over 100 yds rushing. Teams are gonna sellout to stop the run and make Milton/Hooker & receivers beat’em. If they can’t then we looking at probably 5-7 this year.

This game really boils down to QB play and can we force turnovers IMO. Think we will need a couple takeaways whether it’s INT or fumbles.
Well if you’ve seen Kenny Pickett the last couple yrs you know he is prone to turn it over. 18 INTs and a couple fumbles the last
2 seasons and I think last yr he only played 9 games.

Milton is pretty accurate from 15 yards in, just need to take some off his deep throws. Milton seeing zone two weeks in a row would be ideal for his growth

I will say this…on screen passes or anything like within the distance of 20 yards it’s going to be extremely hard for any DB to pick milton’s throw off because of how fast the ball gets to the receiver.Joe definitely has some power behind him.

I go away for about 48 hour, and y’all are still arguing about who should be the QB.

I like what Majors said (at least I give him credit)...... You’re never as good as you look when you win...or as bad as look when you lose.

We need to add QBs are never as bad as they look when they play...or good as they look when they don’t play. 😂

Them being veterans shouldn’t matter. The big time QBs separate themselves almost as soon as they step on campus. Just how it is. Not like he’s getting beat out by NFL QBs and waiting his turn
Right. Just like Mac Jones did, and Bryce Young, and Kyle Trask. The big time QB's in college football are always big time immediately. They never have to wait.

From 2010-2018, 63% of 247 Sports Composite 5-star QBs transferred at least once in their career. HB wasn't a composite 5*. But, the miss rate on highly ranked QBs is high. With two coaching staffs passing him over for QBs that haven't exactly excelled, I would say HB is much closer to that 63% than the 37% that don't transfer and presumably work out. Still early in his career, and he may be a serviceable player, but I think it is apparent HB isn't the savior of the program.
That's right. We know this after he has completed his first spring and his first fall camp. He's done. May as well focus on his accounting degree.

I agree but there may be more picks where it bounces off the receiver in the defenses hands.

There's literally a list infinitely long of QB's who were not elite immediately and then became elite after developing a couple of years. It is completely asinine to say that if a QB isn't the guy day 1 or even year 1 then he is done and isn't going to be good. It's so stupid its not even worth a reply.

And to say, "yeah but there aren't world beaters in front of him!" Ok... but there is a ton of experience ahead of him and Joe Milton has first round talent if it can be developed. There's no question about that. It's why he's the starter.

Mac Jones was terrible in his first 3 years at Bama. If not for JG we would have beaten Bama and Mac in 2019 with freaking Jeremy Pruitt he was so bad in that game. All he did was go on to be drafted in the first round by the Patriots the next year.

You sure we don't need to argue for a few hours first? Haha. Sanderson is an amazing world builder and story teller, among the best; I just think he's a pretty amateur writer. Even Sanderson admitted he butchered Mat though, says it's a regret he has. I respect him for that. I do like Stormlight for the story, just not a fan of his writing style.

Check out Erikson if you're into epic fantasy. Except for the first book of Malazan, it's about as high quality literature as there is in fantasy.

Can you recommend a book/series by Erikson? I'd be interested.

This week is in many ways a pretty even matchup. They have coaching continuity and we have home field advantage. The biggest difference on paper, given that we have pretty much the same strength of schedule so far, is QBR. Heupel’s PASSING offenses over the past 5 years have ranked #20, #14, #37, #8, & #4, nationally. He hasn't minced words in his assessment of the passing game performance last Thursday. I don't think it is unreasonable to expect he will head into Saturday's game with a couple of options in his pocket if the passing game stalls out again. jmo.

Many coaches still believe if you can run the ball AND stop the run you have the advantage. The passing game is necessary to unload the box. We probably have to be able to do that. jmo.

What is match quarters?

In a really simple version:

Outsides DBs play pressed MOD (Man out&deep). If their man goes inside, they zone off. the safeties are reading the inside WRs and/or QB depending on the call. But basically at its core Pitt plays it because it’s hard to throw screens against rolled up corners and it makes the routes you get predictable.

I specifically remember Mac Jones literally pooping down his leg when he came in for Tua against us two years ago
