I hate modern sports journalism. It has transitioned from analysis and insight to lazy, sensationalist attention-grabbing that anybody with a Twitter account can do.

There's no thought put into that tweet. He doesn't talk about the fact that Heupel took a 3-7 team that lost a ton of players to the portal, brought in some unwanted players from other D1 schools, and has this isle of misfit toys sitting at 5-5 with the worst part of its schedule in the rearview mirror. Or hell... if you really need to post something negative about Tennessee, then at least take a critical look at what went wrong in those games against Pitt, Florida, and Ole Miss. That content would have actual value.

But that's too much like real journalism, isn't it? We don't do that anymore. We just bait on Twitter.
Good journalism is out there, you just have to identify and dismiss the obviously biased...even if it matches up with your own biases.

Unfortunately, you're correct about media in general now. A lot of it is based in sensationalism and trying to move as far as it can in either direction because that is what draws the biggest (and most loyal) audience. The bigger the audience, the more $$$ they make. I think some of the sports journalists are so used to going to extremes towards bigger fanbases in order to get clicks that they don't even realize what they're doing now. There's no effort to discern if they're being fair or not...and they'll certainly never have a shortage of fans telling them how they're spot on to write some negative about their rivals.

What exactly are we resting them for? We have two games left before the bowl, and both of them should be teams that we annihilate. Play them for the first half, get up 5 to 6 touchdowns, and then let the youth play the second half and get some much-needed game experience.
Probably because a number of our guys are dealing with some lingering injuries and this may be a good time to get game experience with some of the younger guys. Just a guess though.

In theory, yes. In practice, hasn't happened since Miami joined the ACC. Their last conference title wasn't even in the ACC, and it was a shared Big East title in 2003.

Mark Richt at least won the division and got them to the conference title game… Just ran into a buzz saw of Clemson that year. The path is still easier even though they haven’t been able to do it. I don’t like Joey Freshwater but he can win that conference easier than he can win the SEC.

Payton only has three games left in his career. I've got a feeling he will be on the field if he can go since he's actually giving himself a legit shot at an NFL future this season and needs all the snaps he can get to help lock that in. He certainly should be able to go deep a few times against South Alabama and limit contact.

I get what you're saying. Watch out for Georgia, watch out for Alabama (at least under Saban), watch out for LSU. Eventually, hopefully, watch out for Tennessee again. It's hard to get out from under them.

Even still, Miami has gone to the ACC Championship game 1 time since they've been in the ACC in 2004.

Florida has gone to the SEC Championship game 6 times under three different head coaches in that same time period.

This is to further demonstrate that the football problems in Miami are not the coaches, the talent, or the conference that they play in. The problems are at the University and behind-the-scenes. You can't compete and win championships if your program isn't even set up for success. There's a lot of work to do at Miami to even get them to where they can just worry about competing. It's a rebuild job. A job that will take multiple years and a lot of time and dedication. Kiffin's gonna sign up for that?

Hey Peay,
Did you see the class Coach Webb just signed in men's golf? One of the best classes in the nation. Got the number 2, 19 and 38 players in the country. They just keep getting better each year. I'll be glad when our seniors leave so these young guns can get their chance.
Why would the seniors have to leave to get their chance?

At this point I would be shocked if he gets drafted... doesn't have a body of work to go off of except JUCO and getting hurt almost the entire season here... John Kelly did way more than Evans and barely got drafted in the 6th round... Someone said he had a kid, but the smart play is to stay in school, get the degree, get the body of work next season to go to the NFL, and if he returns, will most likely get some NIL money to get him through until the NFL... JMO

They don’t always look at it logically. The potential for some money now is better than more money later. Problem is they may not get any money now.

guys all this is true, but if you put all the between the lines insight from VQ, etc together — he’s not back no matter what. Sounds like he wouldn’t even be eligible because he has essentially quit school.
