Todays game was frustrating. We didn’t play clean football. Didn’t execute well.

Didn’t have the best play call or schemes in the right moment.

The 18 play 10 minute drive sucked the life out of me.

And we still won by more than 20. It’s unreal.

It felt like a let down and it was a big win. 😂

Times they are a changing.

Yeah, the team looked really flat, and still rolled. We haven't been able to say that in a very long time.

I remember thinking on that 10 minute drive "cool, Vandy is icing the game for us". It was bad we couldn't get off the field but Vandy was basically playing for an improved score at that point.

After all the **** they for some reason talked this week, they couldn't lose 45-7 with the 7 being a hail mary lol

Well...that's weird and not what me and Sweets were talking about at all, that sounds more like a Chamber of Commerce mixer than a real family Thanksgiving meal..😳 I can understand why that would suck to be a part of...I also don't think that is Weezy's situation either.

More like a family reunion. Other than 1 "friend family", we're probably all distant cousins etc., but too distant to count. For most.
Which is fine, just not every freaking holiday, that's why people have actual family reunions! Except in Alabama, where they double for speed dating.

Yes, different than Weezers, just extenuating circumstances for each. Which is probably the case for most.

SR AJ had 101 tackles, 9 TFL, 2 Sacks, 1 INT.
Banks 96 tackles, 9 TFL, 4.5 sacks, 1 INT.... That's not including this week's win against Vandy
It's not just the tackles, it's where the tackles are made that also matter...in his earlier seasons AJ was a grabber that seemed like he was always was a step slow getting off blocks and reading the play, therefore making the tackle but farther downfield, but in his Sr year he was dissecting plays quickly, beating the blocks to the point of attack and destroying fools in the hole at the LOS.

I think Banks is close to doing that now, but he still is a little slow reading things too many times, and therefore getting tangled up with blockers too many times...one reason for many conversions on third and fourth down.

This is just my opinion though, and I hope to see Banks doing what AJ was doing his last year and shutting that crap down next year...and that does depend on Beasley getting a lot better too.

AJ. Because AJ didn’t let Offensive lineman block him.

Jeremy Banks has got to learn to get under OL blocks when they come out to him, instead of getting blocked by them and allowing the up the middle run.
AJ absolutely let OL block him until his Sr year. He had the same problem Banks has...reading the play quickly and beating them to the point of attack, therefore getting tangled up with them too many times and grabbing the RB as he is running by 3-5 yards past the line of scrimmage, it used to drive me insane...but...that changed completely his Sr year...like I said last night, Sr AJ was a beast.

Another year in the weight room and video study will do both of them wonders. IMO, they both will play a lot in the NFL if they stay healthy.

AJ was stronger, but refused to square up in the hole and take a guy on until his senior season like you posted. So he gave up way too many yards to runners. Banks does that part much better as does Beasley, but Beasley is not as physical as Banks and gets runs over. He may be playing out of position because of the lack of ILB's. AJ was better sideline to sideline. Could chase down a play as good as anybody ever.

If Heupel leaves and does so in the right way, I think we get pissed off but over it after a few months. Kiffin literally handled leaving in the worst way possible that didn't involve dead hookers. Everything was terrible from the timing, to what he said and didn't say, and how they recruited players who had already enrolled. I think you'd have to be a real sociopath to leave a job in that way and I think Lane is one of the few in college football capable of doing so.
I would be mightily pissed at Heupel if he left. You can't possibly do it the right way if you leave after one year.

I just realized something, if Bama soundly beats Georgia... Georgia may not make the playoff.

Georgia has ONE ranked win... #25 Arkansas at home.

Even Cincinnati (if they win next week) would have a far better resume, with ranked wins over #5 Notre Dame (AT Notre Dame) and #19 Houston.
I think it could be 80-0 and Georgia would still get in.

I had that argument on
VN a million times back in those days..I always said that until his Sr year he was a "grabber" and not a "mauler" when his job was to be "mauler", and that always pissed off his stat freak fanboys.

But he changed that in a huge way his Sr year..he was absolutely mauling fools at the point of attack.

Should probably compare Banks' season to AJ's junior year. And AJ missed the Missouri and Vandy game his senior year, so that's another 20-ish tackles.

AJ's sophomore year he went for 138 tackles, his junior year he went for 105 (1st Team All SEC).

I believe the 96 tackles includes last nights 12 for Banks.

Fixed. Also you got some typos yourself. As for the job…I’m thrilled with how good of a job he’s done on the field. As I’ve stated we’ve had excellent recruiters (as coaches) who turned out to be terrible coaches. We all really knew Heupel knew how to coach. Especially on offense. The big question marks were around recruiting amd how his defenses have performed in the past.
As for the recruiting…a lot of those questions revolves around his perceived lack of charisma/personality. And I think we have a right to question that. Recruiting has to improve moving forward. At some point it won’t matter if we are calling a great game is our talent is so inferior to our opponent’s. And with all the top level high school talent Tennessee produced this cycle it just feels like a massive loss that we got almost none of them.
Kids are being scared off by the investigation. It had nothing to do with Heupel. I think that “420” is frying your brain cells.
