Which Tennessee football seniors ran through T on senior day and what that means for 2022

Which Tennessee football seniors ran through T on senior day and what that means for 2022

Most notably, quarterback Hendon Hooker did not run through the T. He is a Virginia Tech transfer with one season of eligibility remaining. He has not announced whether he will return in 2022.
Such decisions can get complicated.

“Super seniors” and transfers exhausting their extra eligibility cannot return next season. That means this was the last home game for wide receivers Velus Jones Jr. and JaVonta Payton, defensive backs Theo Jackson and Kenneth George, defensive ends Ja’Quain Blakely and Caleb Tremblay and defensive tackle Matthew Butler.

WHO'S COMING BACK?: Which Tennessee seniors with eligibility remaining could return in 2022
Defensive tackles LaTrell Bumphus and Aubrey Solomon are "super seniors" who have played only four games, so they are eligible to redshirt if they don't play another game this season. Solomon ran through the T, but Bumphus did not.

For the rest, running through the T may be the end. But they can choose to return in 2022 because they have eligibility remaining.
Seniors on scholarship with eligibility remaining who ran through the T before the Vanderbilt game were offensive lineman Cade Mays, offensive lineman K'Rohjn Calbert, cornerback Alontae Taylor, safety Trevon Flowers and placekicker Chase McGrath.
Mays and Taylor likely will declare for the 2022 NFL Draft.

Seniors or graduates with eligibility remaining who did not run through the T before the Vanderbilt game were Hooker, quarterback Joe Milton, offensive lineman Jerome Carvin, offensive lineman Ollie Lane, tight end Princeton Fant, tight end Jacob Warren, linebacker Solon Page III, linebacker Juwan Mitchell, punter Paxton Brooks and placekicker Toby Wilson.

siap!

Good...I just wish this wasn't the year UGA was stacked. They are backing into an easy championship.

It is an almost forgone conclusion to me that they are going to win it, if they do not, then that is the ultimate proof of Kirby being a complete fraud as a HC, but I don't think even he can screw this up.
I wish they wouldn’t have Alabama either.

I had that argument on B
VN a million times back in those days..I always said that until his Sr year he was a "grabber" and not a "mauler" when his job was to be "mauler", and that always pissed off his stat freak fanboys.

But he changed that in a huge way his Sr year..he was absolutely mauling fools at the point of attack.

I remember getting excited the first time he squared up in the hole and just unloaded on the RB. Until then he was a side tackler and would grab high most of the time. I agree, it's great to have stats, but stats don't win games. Plays (calls) done well win games on both sides of the ball.

If we get all the guys back who didnt run through the T and convince Calbert to come back for a healthy season it will go a looooong way to helping bridge the gap while this roster is rebuilt.

If Lane wants to be on a football team next year he better stay here.He ain’t gonna even come close to sniffing a NFL roster.Hopefully he won’t be seen on the field for us next year either. He might be better off doing a graduate transfer to some place like Maryville College.

Well...that's weird and not what me and Sweets were talking about at all, that sounds more like a Chamber of Commerce mixer than a real family Thanksgiving meal..😳 I can understand why that would suck to be a part of...I also don't think that is Weezy's situation either.

Hahaha. Cracking up at this.

Exactly, Nathan freaking Peterman went in the 5th round.

And before y’all bring up what he did at Pitt his stats that year:
60.5% 2855 yds 27 TDs 7 INTs

(Hooker’s stats are better in less games)
NFL GM's scouting potential successful QBs goes MUCH deeper than looking at stats. I hope Hooker comes back. I hope he ends up having a successful NFL career. But.....what he did at UT this season to put up his stats does not exactly correlate to NFL success. Our offense does a phenomenal job of "deceiving" the defense and creating a pre-determined mismatch. Hooker makes one read and then let's the ball fly. That formula will not be there in the NFL. When that predetermined mismatch is covered/not available he struggles. You would hope he just takes off fast and runs in those situations but he doesn't. He often hesitates and thus the 40 sacks. Or you would hope he finds the 2nd or 3rd read to find an open WR but he hasn't done that well either. I worry he would be a guy projected to go in a certain spot but as the draft goes on he falls and stays at the top of the "Best Available QB" list for awhile.

Feels good to not be mad about our teams trajectory.

Florida: New coach
LSU: New coach. Looks like they lost out on Riley
USCjr: Mad being shutout by Clemson again. Want to fire OC. Not all in on Beamer.
Texas A&M: Pissed at losing to LSU. Some think Jimbo is a fraud cashing big checks.
Auburn: Pissed that they lost to Alabama when they could have won.
Alabama: Pissed that they almost lost to Auburn. When they lose to UGA and miss the CFP they will want to fire Saban.
MSU: Pissed that they lost to Kiffin and Ole Miss.
Ole Miss: Concerned about possibly losing Kiffin.
UK: Concerned about losing Stoops.
Vandy: Well Vandy.
Mizzou: Worried they won’t get a bowl because SEC only allotted 12 teams and 13 eligible and they travel worse than any team in the league.
