Napier seems like a guy who wants absolute power. Never had adversity. At the first struggle I think he will crumble and fold, start making snarky comments in pressers and it will be beautiful to watch the fans turn on him.
I think if he’s surrounded with an elite staff he’ll do good, but that’s the hard part. It’s so so hard to maintain an elite staff in CFB because they’re always accepting better jobs. And he’s not an established guy so it’s not like he can pull a Saban and replace Kiffin with Sark as his OCNot a home run hire so to speak. But could be a solid hire.
The more I look into him then the less impressive he looks….. if he recruits like saban or smart then maybe he will be a really good coach…. If not…. I think he will crash and burn….. he is considered an offensive coach that doesn’t have a great offense. Not a home run hire so to speak. But could be a solid hire.
They didn’t leave bc of better jobs…. They left bc he was an azzhole to work for.I think if he’s surrounded with an elite staff he’ll do good, but that’s the hard part. That was one of pruitts many failures, he brought in a great staff and after they started accepting better jobs in year 2 it fell apart
I’m talking about strictly football. He’s had a cakewalk of a schedule for years and in a talent rich state. Not talking about anybody’s personal life. His dad died of ALS and he coached the next day after his funeral and then he lost his offensive line coach to a heart attack on the practice field a couple years later. I don’t know if Napier will make it or not but it won’t be because he can’t handle adversity.
I made an update. They were ranked in the CFP Ranking, but not in the Coaches or AP Poll which I'd looked at.Give it a few hours. They were ranked in other polls, they'll finish the season ranked.

Pretty Holly wins another lackluster game, 80-55. #11 Tennessee 6-0, pure trash.
as we all know Pat was much more than just a coach. It was much bigger than that. If i have to define what THAT means, then, go put your TN card in the trash. All she does is win?
And people forget that even Pat took her time breaking into greatness. It was never instant. I don't remember that part of her career firsthand bc her coaching career spanned most of my lifetime but I know my Vol history.
There were rumors that he struggles some with people having negative opinions of him…..Butch was consumed with it…..Facing personal tragedies is much different than handling media/fan scrutiny…. We got to watch Mullen melt down week after week bc of it.I think those two situations are a lot tougher to deal with than your starting SS being out or having a tough schedule.

You definitely need thick skin to coach in the SEC.There were rumors that he struggles some with people having negative opinions of him…..Butch was consumed with it…..Facing personal tragedies is much different than handling media/fan scrutiny….
