Agree. Someone posted yesterday basically saying Evans is way better than Small. It is ridiculous. Small is very good. Evans is very good. The gap is not much. The issue is more that Small needs someone to relieve him so that he can not carry the ball 30 times. The drop off is the guy who takes 30% of the carries if he ends up taking 70% of the carries. Will it be the walkon?
After they each had one series, Small looked much better than Evans. We need both, for sure. It might be good to see what Jaylen can do. (he is on my fantasy team, after all)

This time there is preparation because they know Cooper is unlikely to play. They will have a plan and the players will have repped the plan. It might just be getting Lane more comfortable. I don't think he is as bad as some think. He is very big, wide upper body and is strong. But it could be that with time to prep they move people around. It is much different to have a week of practice with say...Mays at G and someone else at RT as opposed to doing that in the middle of a game without preparation.
Ollie just doesn’t impress me but I have known to be wrong a lot.

It's not the difference between Evans and Small. It's the difference between Evans and Wright/Pierce. Everything I have seen from Wright in limited reps is he tries to bounce everything outside regardless of down and distance.

It's great having Evans, because he and Small seem to be capable of running the same plays successfully. I bet that makes gameplanning a bit easier. It definitely hurts the opponent, defending a couple guys who are pretty much always fresh.

Hopefully they use him (Wright) in designed edge calls. Seems like he's more comfortable on the edge and definitely has speed to hurt Pitt.

I love Wrights potential, but he still has some things to learn. I think his HS didn't play his senior season, so BGSU were his first real carries in 2 years.

it will be Jaylen Wright

Really no reason for UT to announce player availability for Pitt. They're waiting for clearance on some and undecided on others who could play but could use more healing time before returning.

The depth on the OL has always been an issue, and it was tested early with Calbert and again with Cooper. The best case scenario would have a few guys stepping up to provide more quality depth and so far, that hasn't gone as hoped.

lets be honest it never does
