I’m surprised really…based on his reputation. Seems there’s a Pruitt level micromanaging overconfidence. I bought into that “need to see him in camp” narrative he spewed that might have cost us some commits and this is bad timing for Napier with ESD a week away. I liken this to us dropping Michael Penix and ending up with JT Shrout.

The same names were speculated on for the LSU, USC, and Florida jobs. Only Napier was selected correctly and that’s because Florida had their ducks in a row.

My brother finally recovered enough last night to talk to me about the game. Tried to warn him every year their downfall is to award themselves Championships before they earn them, worse than any other fanbase. They are finally realizing that while Kirby and crew are great recruiters and decent developers, they are terrible at making adjustments when it's nut-cutting time. If they lose to Michigan they are genuinely concerned it will start a gradual downward trend in the program. GO FREAKING WOLVERINES!!

My boy said.."look Dad..we all know he sucks in most ways as a HC, but as long as he keeps stacking up these classes as a recruiter we also know we will always be a pretty good team"

I dont think thats true. I just think ADs are hesitant to commit to Lane long term. Its too risky. And they're probably right. He is an elite coach. But these ADs know they cant control him.
