Some practice nugs:
* Tiyon evans is out….. not sure of possible last second test but all the talk is that he is not playing
* Cooper did not go through walk through so he is probably out or very limited
* Doesn’t know anything on Young
* feels the team looks ready
* Callaway looked good and shifty but unsure how they will use him with him being out for awhile
*Milton seems really confident going into the game
* Joe hit some really nice deep balls during practice today.
Hopefully last week was a fluke and Milton's run game and accuracy is a lot better. Let's get this...

Again, I don’t care what you do in practice. It only matters on game day. Let’s hope he plays better Saturday and hits some bombs. I’m rooting for him to kill it. We need it.

What has Pitt done though to be an above average team?

They went 6-5 with the benefit of a non-major opponent to open the season, and took advantage of the sub-500 ACC teams while losing to ever team that was average or better.

We went 3-7 playing an all SEC schedule that included losing to 4 top 10 teams. And of the other 3 losses only Kentucky & Arkansas didn't finish above 500.

I point all this out to say I think we're about as "even" with Pitt as any team on our schedule. They have the experience edge, we have the talent edge (based on recruiting ratings).

Just basing it on my own estimated 2021 potential finish. I can see Pitt winning 7 or 8 games and us winning 5. I would consider 6 wins to make you an average team but these are just my own categorizations.

How do you see this Pitt game?

1) Nice, early (and entertaining!) test for the Vols in Year 0 of a multi-year rebuild that will help us see where we are?
2) Critical game on which the entire season hinges - if we lose, it sets Heupel back, starting the clock on his tenure and begins introducing doubts about whether he's "the guy"?

I continue to bump into Vol fans who are highly anxious and seem to fall into Category 2.

Why do we do this to ourselves??

I really hope Chip Kelly is successful at UCLA. If so, he will become my Exhibit A for how we should be treating our coaches.
Get out of the way and give them space to build for goodness sakes....

Definitely #1 here. We’ve been through too many of these first year coaches now. I’m not living and dying with every game. This game reveals where we are and how far we have to go.

Yep, I'm in the blackout area for the Dodgers so I use a VPN to watch them on MLB.tv (don't get me started on blackouts).

What are you watching the Dolphins games on?

Last year I used ExpressVPN with Locast.org.. but Locast just shut down. I tested using Paramountplus.com last week and was able to get local Miami CBS by using the VPN with Location Guard, which is a free chrome browser extension so I’ll be going that route this season. Not sure what I’ll do for Fox games but those are much fewer.

I have no inside info. I know no big time boosters. I don't read every blog, post, or web site dedicated to college football. I follow no reporters that cover sports and the in's and out's of everyday college sports but I do have a feeling.

I watched a team last week that was ready and eager to play. They made mistakes and at the same time made some great plays and they will continue to do both. I saw a QB with a cannon that was excited to show it off and I think nerves got the better of him. (throwing a ball high is a sure sign of tight in baseball, football, darts you get the picture) The defense wanted to fly around and above all we won.

Now the first test......They will play hard, QB will calm down, OL and DL will do their jobs and the play makers will do just that....make plays. Will they have a few missteps.....of course, but they will win in the end. BE IT BY 1 OR 100 A WIN IS A WIN !!!! We will take all of them that we can get. GO VOLS !!!!

I eagled two holes in a row during a 4 man scramble one time. We took all of my shots. It was the best golf I have ever played in a two hole stretch.
I am always the guy that isn't very good, well used to be the guy until I had to pretty much give up golf because of deteriorating health, that everyone wants on their team because I usually pull off a great shot or make a big putt when the better players all hit a mediocre or bad shot...it is the one thing I have always been lucky at.

I just noticed I'm coming up on yet another mile stone 1300 post. I know I have squandered away the chance to really make a statement during these mile stones in the past but not this time....this will be epic . I have figured out the secret to winning the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP and in that post I will reveal the secret to the Coaches and Administration at UT. It is so simple, I .........WAIT A MINUTE THIS IS 1300........THIS IS THE POST...........I've lost my train of thought and now the train has left the station.........ALL IS LOST.......I have shamed myself yet once again................SKITTLE ???? What was I saying ???? Oh, well carry on.

But you've gotta take into account SEC schedule vs ACC. Us playing Pitt's schedule are we a 5 win or 7/8 win team?

That's why I think it's more on par. To me this is the closest equal team we'll get all year (maybe Kentucky being only other one closer to equal).

I look at replays of old games and one thing never seems to leave me, they were always exciting and I always thought we could win no matter who we played. Remember we have only won ONE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP in my life and I'm 61 but I always thought we could win.
