Truth be told all 99.99% of these players including 5 stars are not worth what they want to get from NIL and that’s a hard pill to swallow for them. The intention was to let them profit off themselves not get paid handouts from businesses.
It’s hilarious and sad at the same time. Surly we have someone out there with millions that can hook up some recruits. But all returns have been relatively weak to this point. And to say recruits aren’t worth it may be true too but people don’t care about that when they want their respective school to win. Just the way it’ll be for the Top 300 athletes now… buckle upSo other programs boosters and local business are ponying up million dollar deals for players. And the best our cheapskate bum boosters can afford is some free Gus’s chicken????
Agreed and that should be the extent of the rule, but here we are.Agreed. Felt like it was more of a change drive by the "content creator" market that exist now. A starting QB at a big D1 school with a ton of followers on IG or YouTube or TikTok shouldn't have to forfeit any money he makes there from sponsored ads, brand deals, or view generated revenue.
They are part of the process and get paid for their roles. My point was the players are a bigger part of the process and get paid with a scholarship, and that is very nice, but NIL is about their right to use their own image to profit from it.Well, we're not watching backyard football that has no coaches, admin, etc. We have seen what it looks like when those are bad. Don't want to imagine what it is like without them.
I’m the guy big on football linemen that are championship wrestlers
Sounds like it's more about getting paid for their potential to perform in college. They are part of the process and get paid for their roles. My point was the players are a bigger part of the process and get paid with a scholarship, and that is very nice, but NIL is about their right to use their own image to profit from it.
I have no problem with NIL in theory...I have a massive problem with it in practiceThey are part of the process and get paid for their roles. My point was the players are a bigger part of the process and get paid with a scholarship, and that is very nice, but NIL is about their right to use their own image to profit from it.
Is it? If someone wants to use your name to make some money, should you not get some of the profit.? NIL means name, image, likeness. Is it going to be abused by schools to pay the players? Yes. Does that mean that players don't deserve compensation for bringing revenue to the school or to a private business entity? No.Sounds like it's more about getting paid for their potential to perform in college.
Athletes value those who cut their hair…ask around. This guy also works with athletes. I’ve disagreed with some of his stances and the presentation as much or more than anyone, but he’s not a blowhard. He has access and I believe he’s a fan of the program we follow. Errybody’s entitled to their own opinion so I’ll leave it there. You are taking information from a dude on a message board that works at Supercuts and running with it...Jeeze
