I suppose the private entity could require that the player sign 1st by not making the contract official until after signing day but then it seems is still basically buying a class, especially if the university is giving any input at all. Not naive enough to think such deals have not always happened but if are presenting them as being legitimately legal now it seems to me that a lot of these deals are illegal at worst and fishy at best. Given UTs current state of being investigated I don't see how they can do anything at the moment but tread very lightly. Nothing but a fan here with no inside knowledge and only my understanding of the current rules. Idk? GBO🍊!

I believe they are leaning toward something along the line of requiring a player to live in Knox County or surrounding area for a majority of the year for the NIL to be compensated.

What NIL deals does Zach have at TCU. I searched and could not find anything…

What did find are stories about Gary P supposedly begging for NIL deals as he was concerned about losing Zach. Can you elaborate? Seems unlikely that mid season after reports he found a deal?…

I think head coaches soliciting NIL deals for their players is gonna be a problem. They are gonna have to develop some sort of oversight.

I don't know the numbers, but there was apparently a bidding war on NIL deals with Texas Tech of all places, who have some highly motivated and wealthy alumni in the oil and gas business. It probably helped that Texas also got the commitments this weekend of a 5 star left tackle and 4 star right tackle who were committed to Oregon until Cristobal left, with a 5 star guard likely to sign on Wednesday as well.

Maybe this will make Arch Manning start looking around some other places.

I’m sure he was grasping at straws with seat being hot but I agree with you... That said, De1 keeps talking NIL deals, you’d think I would be able to find talks about one with Zach…

Unless someone shows me otherwise, he’s the most accomplished.

His record of turning out draft picks is pretty stellar. He’s proven it, and I don’t how else you evaluate coaches. It’s no fluke, and it means he knows what he is doing.
