I don't think he's the consensus best DL coach in the country or even the conference. I'm a big fan of him, but you have to take the orange glasses off and realize he isn't thought of THAT highly.

I am not sure why you think that. His reputation as a recruiter within the conference is tremendous. You could possibly argue that the reason he has put so many kids in the league is because he has recruited at such a high level. However, he has to have some development skills to go along with that. It is not orange glasses for me. It is simple numbers. I would like to know who you think is better in the conference. I am legitimately interested.

Horrible, of course but that means it was always between Majors and Hornung. And so began the era of anybody but TN.

Not sure losing the Heisman is a bad thing, long-term anyway. Seems like most Heisman winners have had below avg pro careers over the past 25 years.

Are you serious? He’s the only DL coach I knew by name that didn’t work for TN because I don’t keep up with anyone else. But I did know him and his reputation. Why are you trying to stick orange glasses on it?

By every objective measure (All conference, All American, NFL draft picks) he absolutely is without question.

Yep, I have said that we needed to throw advertising money at current players to keep them, and that’s not in violation of making an offer to secure a recruit. Hooker and Tillman needed 6 figure offers, and it appears they are getting them. This is another part of the analysis about recruits just taking the best deal they get offered. If you go to UT, at least offensive players and the DL will get developed. If you show out in one year (see Hooker and Tillman), you will get even better deals.

I will bet you 6 figures that Hooker and Tillman are not getting 6 figure deals and probably not 5 figures. Where do you get this stuff ? There is no one locally selling cookies or sandwiches funding any six figure annual deal. It is exactly this kind of crap that causes people to wait and say - hey where's my six figure deal.

We have already established that we offered Nolan and Evans free hotdogs once every other week. Please let me know where the end of this rainbow is - with buckets of gold ....

I had a convo with a guy who’s a sports management prof. He told me that Ewers picked Ohio State purely because the structure of the state laws in Ohio let him get paid as a 17 year old. He went to Ohio State, got paid, and is now transferring to Texas now that he’s 18.

Umm, made up BS. Ewers turned 19 before graduating from high school. He went to my daughter’s high school…
