We expecting any more surprises?

Whatever happened to that DT from South Pittsburg....Giovanni Davis? We still pursuing him?....wasn't he committed at one point?

People should not harp on LB being a place of need. We did great getting teams to 3rd down. Then we let them get a first on 3rd. We need pass rush and corners. You can put a safety in at one LB spot on 3rd down passing plays. Better for chasing QB anyway. LB is far down my list of needs for UT.
They were horrid in pass coverage

Thats my point thought, I want guys who have played that position and learned it their whole life. Banks is good but hes still learning
Beasley ehhh this year
Willis who knows
Page not great
Mohan who knows.

Yeah and those guys don't really exist...except in the transfer portal. Even Henry T was an OLB coming here.

Butch had higher rated classes than Kiffin, and Kiffin’s class was garbage off of paper.

Ha ha. I only meant recruiting rankings of the first class he signed.

Kiffin landed a top 10 class.

Heupel (at the moment) is trending towards top 10.

I recall Butch and Pruitt having first classes outside the top 20. Dooley had a highly rated one, but it was mostly Kiffin's work. That said, Dooley's first class actually produced some NFL talent...

Banks = RB outta HS
Beasley = ATH outta HS (RB/S)
Page = OLB outta HS
Willis = OLB outta HS
Mohan = ATH outta HS

Pretty rare to get a true ILB outta HS is my point, the last ILBs we recruited are Whitehead/Eason/French.

We also got Perry/Herring in this class and both are LBs with the right size for playing inside. With the depth we add from Pearce/Josephs could see Roman moved back to ILB (where he's cross-trained a ton at)
I agree with all of this...but, Roman needs to stay on outside. He was blowing up at the end of the season.

Oh I agree, and we typically only run 2 LBs. I like that Roman can come in as a 3rd LB though and fall back in coverage (better at it than Baron/Byron are).

I really like where the front 7 is positioned. Both in existing talent, incoming talent, and the coaching develop I've seen thus far. Ya gotta hope they can convince Whitehead his best option to go pro is at ILB (especially with how well Banks has done there). I think he goes from "buried on the depth chart" at RB to in the 2 man rotation fast at ILB.
