I actually side with you that there is a huge overreaction to COVID, but since you asked...

College football player Jamain Stephens, 20, dies from COVID-19 (yahoo.com)
College football player Jamain Stephens Jr. passes away at 20

“It was originally believed Stephens Jr. passed away from COVID-19 complications. But on Wednesday, Stephen Jr.'s high school, Central Catholic, posted on it's Facebook pagethat it "mistakenly attributed his death without official confirmation on cause of death."

He actually died of a blood clot in his heart. I don’t know if that’s Covid related. Sad for all involved

Think I had posted the NCAA's blanket waiver for signing spots and ICs (up to 7 additional) Q&A some time back, but missed a big part that someone on 247 just caught. It sorta wrecks our notion of this rule in a sense...what we all missed is it wasn't just about outgoing transfers...it is for players leaving or, better put by newer NCAA documentation, "departing".

What the NCAA says in the Q&A is that the waiver also includes guys that leave for the NFL draft, as long as they have remaining eligibility. So, if a guy like Cade leaves...he counts. AT would count. And so on.

My only question now is how that will work IF he we decide to self impose initial counters. You're only allowed to use the (up to) 7 once you've maxed out the 25. Is it possible by giving up 5 we'd be giving up up to 12? Sure hope not and there's a workaround.

They said he died from a blood clot in his heart.

Could have been covid related but could have been completely unrelated. Regardless, one athlete amounst the thousands and thousands of college athletes doesn't warrant what they have done to college sports.

Agreed. Seriously, they do not know enough about COVID, so they're panicking. They need to do more in-depth study into why some people are asymptomatic, and some people die. What is the commonality in the people it is most severe in?
