Also worth adding, Purdue shredded MSU this year too. Similar passing numbers but without the 3 picks. That offense has been clicking like crazy for a couple months.
MSU also has the worst secondary in the entire country. Literally 130th.

Chew on this:

Cade was out. RT was our biggest weakness on the OL, yet we ran that way on 4th down in OT.

Hmmm.
And we still scored a TD. With our backup RB who didn't stop churning for one millisecond.

And he got it ripped away from him by a bumarse ref.

Chew on that then ya can cash me ousside

Only silver lining I see from yesterday’s result is that it caused many fans to temper expectations for 2022, which is appropriate

Team should be better, but that early part of the schedule is tough and there are still huge holes on the roster, with minimal competitive depth

This rebuild will take time

I think Tim Banks will be fine. I like the way he calls the defense, we just didn't have the horses to shut teams down this year. Lot of bend but don't break. You certainly don't fire him after 1 season with the deficiencies this defense had from a personnel perspective.
I'm fine giving him another year for sure, but it's not like he has the resume that earns him a bunch of years either. If anything, his prior resume was a bit worrisome with no one else really giving him the reigns solely for an extended period.

Could be wrong, but I tend to see "situational football" such as 3rd downs, to relying more on coaching, playcalling, and scheme. It's befuddling how we can produce so many TFLs and yet to be so poor at 3rd down defense. That is *** backwards. I believe that comes back to coaching. We have to fix that. That simple.

He has time to improve and hopefully he does. If not, then we have to do what it takes to get right and take the next step. We're merely an improved defense from being a serious contender.

How are you feeling, Brother?
Funny you should ask… I’m back at the ER. When I left I told the doctor and nurse that my a** was hurting and they just said it’s hemorrhoids and keep it clean. Had my wife check it and it’s the size of a golf ball and I’m back at the ER. They fast tracked me so I think they know they screwed up. But may be looking at another surgery today. 2021!!!

Tillman also got over 1,000 yards.

And we broke the all-time scoring record. After having one of our worst modern offenses last year.

We put up 666 yards and 45 points.

Lots of silver linings imo. Don't have 150 yards in penalties, OR a missed pass interference in the last minute, OR the awful miss at the end...and this is a completely different discussion today about a tough, resilient team.

I won't let any of that keep from me from high expectations for next year. I still fully think we should win 7 next season, with a good shot at 8 (regular season). 6 wins and 9 wins on the outer distribution edges.

This!!! This is why we lost the game. Officiating was bad but we lost that game.

And we could have still won the game on the final drive.

For whatever reason Hooker kept trying to throw a bomb. Throw the 5-15 yard passes and move down the field also considering we had all 3 timeouts.
He threw those passes because that was the read for the play called for him accounting for the defense presented. If you've got a problem with those throws lay it at the feet of the guy calling the plays.

When the defense made adjustments and we threw crossing routes and the short/ intermediate routes Hooker is most comfortable with the passing game worked fairly smoothly.

Holy crap, dude. So sorry. Prayers abound for you. Hate you are having to go through this.

Just wondering if you have posted here before under another name....
Seems like that’s the go to question whenever someone doesn’t have an opinion that’s positive on here. Let me be clear. I do consider this top 15 class to be a success in year one. Idk about some of you, but long term I want to be competing with Alabama, Georgia and Florida. We’re not going to do that by recruiting at the level we currently are. At the very least we’ll need to recruit top 10 on an annual basis to have a chance with those guys.
