Vail finally got some snow!
Top: Skiing Wednesday with my son
Middle: Gameday with my daughter.
Bottom: 1/1/22 skiing with both my kids
Awesome week! For those of you wondering, my son is actually my son again! He is seriously turning a corner
I can’t count the number of people who came up to me after the game and told me how we were robbed. One was even wearing Purdue gear!
My kids are still amazed at how Vols are everywhere and vocal! Gave and got more GO VOLS than I could count.
My takeaway from this season is that we have a coach! We have a coaching staff! We have players who are actually Volunteers! It’s a new day, it’s a new year! It’s about to be clobbering time! I can’t believe that it took over a decade to get back here. 15-0
Go Big Orange!
We were 117th in first downs allowed
We were 120th in red zone defense
We were 122nd in passing yards allowed
We were 60 (woo hoo) in rushing defense
We were tied for 32nd about 10 other teams for interceptions.
We were 103 in 3rd down defense
We were tied for 54th in 4th down stops
We were tied for 42nd in sacks
We were tied for 103 in recovered fumbles
We were tied for 90th in scoring defense
We were tied 98th for total defense
I didn't see the stat for TFL but it sounds like we were good there so we've got that going for us.
We literally sucked at every meaningful defensive category that I could find. We couldn't stop the run. We couldn't stop the pass. We couldnt sack the QB. We couldn't get off the field on 3rd down or 4th down. I can't believe the excuses that you guys have for Banks. It as Sunseri level bad. Vandy was statistically better, significantly, on many of these stats.
I'm not calling for the guy to be fired but tied ignore how pathetic this defense was is burying your head in the sand.
Let's see, Savion Williams, To'o To'o, Crouch, Lawerence, Bennett, Johnson, Emerson, Middleton and Simmons is not gone, but didn't play. That list would have made this defense a whole lot better by providing depth in addition to rest this season.
Are educated enough on defense to make that call? I know I’m not….. I do realize that we are extremely short handed on that side of the ball….. they stated that they didn’t want the defense to be complex bc they wanted them to play fast.Sure, better players will always help. A more complex scheme would help too. A generic defense with average players leads to what we saw this year.
Rattler had a better supporting cast at OK but they think he'll improve with lesser surrounding talent at S Car? Sound logic!Gamecock fans over here in SC are convinced Rattler is going to be the 2nd best QB in the conference next year. Not so sure about that.
Expectations from them are sky high after their bowl win.
They needed a complex scheme like the one Pruitt ran. When we never knew where to line up half the time. I respect all these concerns but the Defense, just like the Offense, will expand the Playbook in Year 2 when they have from now until Spring ball to do installs. The part that takes the longest is getting all of the Coverages and Checks to a level of comfort where you can react more and think less. Lack of speed at the Safety position limits what you can do across the entire back end and that to me is the biggest issue. Are educated enough on defense to make that call? I know I’m not….. I do realize that we are extremely short handed on that side of the ball….. they stated that they didn’t want the defense to be complex bc they wanted them to play fast.
