Not at all, but the players have to be there to give money to. Top 22 kids just weren’t very interested in Tennessee to start with. Hard for this staff to have the relationships with 2022 kids that other schools did given everything that’s gone on plus all the negative recruiting from other programs.
So why not go all in on the one kid in our backyard?

And one more thing, if we weren't going to "make a huge payroll class this year", then it seems to me you're admitting we're behind the other programs in relation to NIL.

I wouldn’t necessarily agree with that statement. It could be that certain players aren’t worth the money. Just because you don’t get him, doesn’t mean we didn’t have the money.

I don’t think it’s good business to start throwing big money at guys that are only looking for the biggest dollar, because in the new world, they can transfer out to get more money before they ever even make an impact and then it’s just wasted money.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Nolen transfers out of A&M eventually.

I would say some of the big $ deals come with stipulations between they player and sponsor.

But you're suggesting we're going to throw money at Iamaleava. What if we do, then he decides to transfer out? Seems like just as much of a chance at being wasted money?

Anyway, I'm over arguing about it. I know some think Nolen will be a bust. I disagree. I think he'll be good. But since he chose another school, I really hope I'm wrong. And I hope Iamaleava picks us and turns out to be a special player.

We’ll see how it closes but we are currently ranked 7th overall in conference in recruiting rankings and even FLA who is lower has a slightly higher average than us, according to 247.

I’m not a star gazer but it doesn’t seem like that is going to be good enough. And wth is going on at A&M? They must be throwing stupid money around.

This is why the NIL in it's present form will be the death knell of College sports. The argument that they were getting paid anyway is valid but the open bidding at recruiting and transfer portals is an all new level.

Everyone wants the best and some are willing to get it at any cost because they can afford to take a chance I'm not sure we can. Feeling were hurt when Fulmer got fired and some of the old money dried up when they saw their power fade.

UT has always had a huge budget for recruiting and have and still do recruit nation wide. Locking down the state is going to be tough and here is why. Middle and West Tn have had a fan base that is mostly Orange not as much so now.

In Nashville for example you have roughly a hundred people a day moving here. They're not moving here from Strawberry Plains but they are moving here from EVERYWHERE !!!! Just as a small example on my street going 2 houses both ways from mine and across the street in the last 10 years they have come from California, Wisconsin, Arizona, Indiana and Washington DC. and none care about UT football. All they have heard is the fiasco that we had for the last 15 years or so.

That is what they are recruiting against in Nashville area alone. The days of showing up at a High School and being treated special is over. Making up for what was here previously is going to take a lot of hard work and even more than most of us realize and the money guy's better get their acts together if that's what it is going to take.

It use to be a promise playing time and a special jersey number would get a player, now that special number has a dollar sign in front of it.......and that's the way it's done now and it's within the rules. Go Figure.

Saw where Zack Evans is crystal balled 100% on 247 to Ole Piss... guess they ponied up and got him the money he wanted... sure do hope our RB room improves/continues to develop because we have Small who is an average SEC RB, Wright who is underdeveloped, young, and tends to dance, and a great player in Williams coming in, but is a true frosh and not tested... If Wright can put on some muscle and develop, he could be very good and hopefully Williams is all that is advertised...

Last night Invol said Ergen doesn't.
Ergan doesn't directly donate but he does purchase advertising. I could see them talking him into "hiring" a player for NIL. But, that's a sticky thing. Would the AD be willing to accept less money for advertising in exchange if him contracting with a player for NIL? That's if Charlie wasn't willing to pay more for the NIL.
