There's things out there. You may never hear about many of them. Like I said, I was told they could have pony'd up for Nolan but chose not to. Money spent better elsewhere.

Given the way Nolen's dad talks and our current precarious position with the NCAA, it probably wasn't a good idea for us to end up with him.

I’m sorry, but I hate this NIL. It was ridiculous what AL, GA and a few others were paying. And you can see the results. Now it’s just going to get beyond ridiculous, and that’s all anyone is going to talk about with it being in the open. And can you imagine crazy fans when the players do not perform up to expectations after what they are being paid?
It's going to be like the MLB was or how some of those soccer clubs are. Whoever has the most money will build the best roster.

It's the NFL without a salary cap.

It's all completely legal now. No reason to not play ball. I just don't think they were impressed with him enough to spend what it was going to take to get him.

But rarely win the World Series.
That's right. That's the only thing keeping me from flying from side to side on the NIL pendulum.

It will probably forcibly form a top 32-40 teams that are willing to pay for their roster, and to compete. Then CFB will have to figure out what to do with everyone else.

Unless cap language comes into play then we're 50% the old way, 50% the new way. Except maybe you make paying under the table an offense with real consequences, as opposed to (still) managed by the NCAA.

Is this not what I've been saying the last two days?
But we're not behind on NIL...

Unless the NCAA takes action, which I highly doubt, this will continue to happen, and other programs will follow suit. Nothing I've seen thus far suggests we have boosters willing to step up and do the same, or even come close to the same level. It is what it is. I'm not saying we suck at NIL, but some people are pretending that we can compete with these other programs, and I've yet to see anything that suggests we can. That's the difference between being top tier and mid-tier.

I don't think you'll see Tennessee even remotely approaching what A&M is doing. Tennessee will probably go all in on 1-2 players and then much smaller NIL deals for 90% of the rest.

Honestly, probably will be the smarter play long term. Once you're putting folks in the NFL the talent ya want won't care as much about the NIL deals upfront. Sure they seem nice, but being drafted in the 1st round will dwarf most NIL deals money.

And with the 1 free transfer you'll see more and more HS kids take advantage of teams/boosters like Ewers did Ohio State and less and less money folks will want to invest in fickle teenagers.

I mean, if it is really 30mil a class, that is over 1M per scholarship player. That is a Cam Newton to Auburn money for all the entire recruiting class. Just nuts.

Random thought for the afternoon. NFL is nearing the most entertaining part of their season, playoffs. This is opposed to major CFB, where the regular season is the way more enjoyable than bowl season. Which is why an argument for anything above a 8 team playoff in CFB is ridiculous to me. It would dilute the importance of the regular season.
**** the regular season

A&M is lucky. This will be there best class ever. Took advantage in year one and we’re ready to pounce.

This will be table stakes next year and even out. Unless your AD can’t get it together then you will be way behind.

It would just shift things. Like a self-fulfilling prophecy. The bigger the playoffs get, the more important the post-season becomes. Like March Madness...or the NFL playoffs. The regular season doesn't need to be the most important part, it's just what we're used to.
I have ALWAYS hated that about CFB.
