He doesn't see who is open on the NFL level. It shrinks the field substantially and defenses can shut that down easy. The WRs aren't terrible. Too bad this is a suspect QB class.

Yeah, not worth the shot to draft QBs from this class. We’re either trading for Watson, or giving Tua another year or two with a revamped offense and OL. Really the only two options.

If anyone thinks that the NIL can be regulated , I noticed where Saban thinks it could be problematic. In other words everybody can buy a team and this little experiment in paying athletes will ultimately come down to 10 schools trying to out bid each other for players then the next tier of investors will bid next followed by the next tier and so so forth. Gives you the warm and fuzzy's for amateur athletics doesn't it ? It's all about the money........and the trophy's rich alumni or investors can put in their trophy case in the lobby.
So pretty much the way it’s always been done.

Surely you don't actually believe this.

When illegal money making activity becomes legal, it doesn't just stay the same. This is head in sand stuff.

We'll use sports betting as an example. It was always possible to bet on Sports anywhere in the US. Legal even, if you used off shore sites. And yet:

So when athlete compensation follows the same trend, how many teams will be able to field a competitive team?

Im not really following why you are using this example but most bettors did not trust off shore betting. Hence they did not use it. When its domestic and on your phone as an app, its a different ballgame.

I was mainly referring to paying players is piers…. Top 10 paid more…. Then it was lower as you go down….During the 90’s I was friends with one of Fulmer’s best friends…. He, thunder thornton, and another rich guy(name I can’t remember) rode a limo from here to Jackson Hole Wyoming and on to our game against UCLA…. The stories I heard about the money/cars/perks being paid to players was unreal.

As for gambling…. There is no way…. USA didn’t have access to offshore gambling which is why it pissed them off…. I have gambled for years and it was always offshore(no taxes) or under the table….I would guess that a good portion of the increase is offshore gambling or under the table moving to sites like fanduel.

I like Barnes and not saying he needs to retire , yet. But these kids are not being developed and I have no ideal what kind of offense they are even running. What I do know is the rotation sucks. Last night when Tn was getting back into the game and cut the lead to 7 he brought in JJJ, Uros and took out VB and ON and the first thing JJJ was brick a 3 and within 2 minutes LSU was back up by 11. I also think these kids are afraid to make a mistake knowing they are going to get benched and this is on Barnes. I think Barnes calling out Fulk was a bad move. Barnes needs to own up to his flaws and take responsibility for this mess. KC is regressing every game and that is on Barnes. This team is just not that good and Vescovi is your best player. What ever problems this team has is all on Barnes and lets see if he can fix it, personally I dont think he can.
Half of the scholarship guys are freshmen. This was always going to be an issue this year and there's no way around it. The transfer portal didn't do Barnes any favors last year.

Basilio is going in on Barnes today, which is fine. I’m not a big Barnes critic, but the man makes 5 mil a year, so he can take some heat when things aren’t going well (I didn’t like the Fulky quote either).

But here’s my problem: I’ve heard Tony all offseason, when he was crusading about our NIL deficiencies, say that Rick Barnes had a super-class ready to sign, but the NIL and the university’s lack of readiness for it sunk the class.

But today, when he’s crusading against Barnes, suddenly Barnes is a “lazy recruiter,” and Barnes is responsible for letting his class fall apart.

Tony, which is it? If we’re going to make judgments on Barnes going forward, that seems like something your listener base would need you to be clear about.

I'm glad we're still pimping the WR stats, but we already got our WR commits and our next star out of the portal.

Maybe we can start highlighting RB stats or just put out the massive HELP WANTED on defense.

Need the social team to get creative on making the defense look fun too.

3 of the top 10 in-state kids for 2023 are WRs.

Have you peppered your angus for a UGA win? They’re about to take the next step to world domination.

SIAP, but Swain said on his show today that Vols are talking to multiple defensive players who have yet to enter the portal. Says they are doing this through back channel means. Apparently, players are reaching out to us through current players, for example, to see if they would have a spot. I'm hoping one of those is Payton Page. I bet one of them is the guy I told y'all about a long time ago that was considering transferred, but as of yet has not entered.

He also said that we now have multiple current players who have 6 figure NIL deals

Have you ever noticed that most, but not all, big time football coaches are A$$HOLE's. Think about it. Belichick, Saban, both Harbaughs, Meyer and on and on. Would you really want to hang out with ANY of these guy's if they are that way all of the time.
That chick who works in the marketing dept of a company selling to Urban Meyer's restaurants looked like she "liked" him.
