I have dish network and haven't had cbs since October due to a carriage dispute with tegna. I've missed some good college games this year. Good news is I didn't have to listen to Gary Danielson one single time.

I watched this game on Nick and it was interesting. I did go long stretches with the game on mute though.

I just dropped dish. Got tired of that stuff. I hadn't had NBC due to the Tegna stuff since September/October? YouTube TV is much less expensive.

These coaches developed some players in a short time into phenomenal players. IE Theo Jackson. Maybe, just maybe they can do it with the younger players too…

I’d guess that we will get our answer by who leaves and who all we pursue between now and the end of spring. Obviously…. They feel we need a wr and a couple tackles…. We will know what else they feel is a weakness by who they pursue by the end of spring.

I wanted some good defensive players out of the portal. Still do. Hope it happens. Just a couple solid contributors we can count on next season.

We finished #90 in scoring defense at 29 ppg. I don't expect the 10 ppg of UGA. I don't even expect to be near Bama at 20 ppg. We have too many possessions per game at breakneck speed for that to happen. So I am hoping for a drop from 29 to the 25 range. That means improving to around #50. Just need fewer melt downs in the secondary and more edge pressure on the QB IMO. Two first round NFL QB's are off the schedule next season.

We finished #7 in scoring offense at 39.3 ppg, just .6 behind Bama in the SEC. Bama runs some uptempo, just not as much or as fast as us. So. with what we have coming back and assuming Mincey can pull the load at RT - I am hoping for a 3-5 point improvement in O scoring. That would put them at #2-#3 in the nation in scoring based on last season's stats. That is attainable IMO.

That pushes the point differential from 10 ppg to at least 17 ppg. Which means more wins and being competitive in every single game. So, can this staff do that with who they already have on the roster?

Back to numbers for a second, SIAP, but it appears we might be self imposing 10 scholarship reductions this year…post from LWS on VQ…

we do not have 82-83 on scholarship here for spring. We have 75 right now, that is it. you have to be at no more than 85 for spring unless you are taking reductions. That is why Austin's comment was so surprising in saying they could not take anyone else until after spring UNLESS someone leaves. If we were going to be at 85, there is plenty of room for more transfers right now. If we are going to be at 80, there is room for transfers right now. Even if we are going to be at 77, there is room for 2 transfers right now.

Something is up with what the roster size is going to be. there can be no other explanation to "someone is going to have to leave to take anyone else right now". As Austin said in this thread, that is what he has been told.

Need to lock J. Heupel in for 10 years ASAP

It's going to be a bumpy ride for a while with those numbers and I'm not sure the mr. checkerboards of the world will be able to handle it

Hey don't worry, apparently we are talking with kids who aren't even in the portal and we have just now decided to start looking at recruiting on defense... while everyone else grabs talent in the portal... Self-imposing scholly's, we should still be able to take some on D at this point...

You don't care about cheating? That is the DIRECT cause for all the cheating that happens. If fans didn't have that attitude then cheating would end.

I saw someone say something similar earlier this week. They were comparing it to the Mac playing football on weeknights on the big channels, they should do the same for B Ball. That has to get better ratings than all these awful talk shoes espn has on now.

He and Karl82 @GQ have done a good job with numbers, assumptions etc. This is a latest assumption from Karl that seems to make sense
1) We're at 75 today with 7 more coming this summer for a total of 82.
2) Mods have said that we can't take any more this spring without equal departures.
3) Statement 2 implies that we're taking a 10 scholarship reduction from 85 to 75.
4) 7 kids will have to leave post spring to enroll the 7 coming in.
5) Whoever we add via the portal or February signing day will require equal departures.
6) Because of the numbers crunch, staff is being very selective.
7) Expect 12-13 departures post spring to add 5-6 more kids.

Umm you don’t think this happens? There’s plenty of ways to show interest in a player without talking to them directly/tampering. Parents, former coaches, former teammates, other intermediaries, etc. This isn’t a game anymore; it’s a billion dollar business.

Frankly no I don’t care about cheating. Because it goes on. Always has and always will. Do I wish TN could be this squeaky clean program that really sets a great standard? Absolutely. But let’s face it, can we do that and win? No we can’t.

Fans attitude towards cheating has absolutely zero effect on its continuing. Cheating is a part of college football. I just want us to win.

Taking a 10 scholarship reduction in one year seems excessive to me. Unless they're just ripping the bandaid off in one year. 3-5/year is the norm. Maybe they've decided to try and take one big punch instead of a few small punches. I'm not sure of that strategy with the 25 hard limit. Will make it difficult to get back to a full roster.

Thanks. For me, a vacation like that is a huge leap to trust strangers with my family. Knowing that a VFL is involved with the company brings a lot of peace of mind.
