Taking a 10 scholarship reduction in one year seems excessive to me. Unless they're just ripping the bandaid off in one year. 3-5/year is the norm. Maybe they've decided to try and take one big punch instead of a few small punches. I'm not sure of that strategy with the 25 hard limit. Will make it difficult to get back to a full roster.
I hate the idea of doing the ncaa’s job for them anyways.

NFL rosters are 53, they get by ok. They do also have reserves they can pull. The big concern about having 85 is more due to developing young guys for tomorrow, less about today. With the portal being a source of guys who are physically ready to play now, not sure a 75 limit is quite the death sentence it once was.

Maybe they don’t want to eat into the ‘23 class? Eat that frog now so moving forward you don’t have to worry about playing the numbers game.

Need to lock J. Heupel in for 10 years ASAP

It's going to be a bumpy ride for a while with those numbers and I'm not sure the mr. checkerboards of the world will be able to handle it
You might want to know more about Heupels contract than me before you talk ****. It was announced when he signed that Heupel gets a rolling year for every year of sanctions TN is under. So for the next few years he will always have the original number of years on his contract.

It seems like 10 reductions is a lot, but I agree. NFL is amazing to me because they can only have 46 active for a game. I would guess we had 10 guys this year that never really played.

Yeah, maybe. They tend to be pretty random, ignoring some stuff and dropping the hammer on others. By doing what we are, we are effectively negotiating with them and guiding the process. I really don't hate it. Door #1 might be a new car or a luxury vacation, but then again it might be a lawn mower or a shovel.

I'm going to attempt to be positive for a second. Depending on the path taken this could work out better in the long run. Let's say Heupel wins 7 next year with 75 on the roster. The recruiting class won't cover every spot open so that basically leaves free transfer spots where you can add without losing a player as long as it isn't going to be 10 a year, maybe next year, we go 78, 82, 85 or something like that. It's basically creating room to take Hopefully better talent in the future while looking like you're punishing yourself now.
Now positive moments over, 10 is absolutely way too many. Our admin is dumb for penalizing itself this much for something that is legal now anyways.

From mid-November:
NASHVILLE – When Mike Vrabel met with the Sunday Night Football crew leading up to the Week 9 game against the Rams, broadcaster Cris Collinsworth noted that the Tennessee Titans – who’d already used 77 players in their first eight games – were closing in on the NFL’s full-season record of 84.

“You might want to take the over,” Vrabel told Collinsworth. “That’s just a hunch.”

Two games since that tip, Vrabel looks prophetic as the Titans have now used 82 players – with seven games remaining in the season.

I don't agree with the scholarship reductions, but it's all but a forgone conclusion that's what we're doing (people scoffed at that when I suggested it the other day as to why we weren't after more transfers).

I think we need some real patience and support of Heupel. 10 scholarships down is a huge deal. I don't like it either and wish we would tell the NCAA to shove it, but we're hamstringing our own program. Heupel needs to be here post sanctions (self-imposed and otherwise) for stability and also just in fairness to him.

It will be interesting to see how the administration responds if we have middling results (like this season) over the next few years. You know the fan base will be out for blood. Some will understand the circumstances, but we all know most won't or won't care. This place will turn toxic, and if it happens, it's mostly the administration's fault.

No idea how this plays out. Just spit balling here.

This is what I see from a quick look at the roster. A few of these probably won't ever play here outside of the transfers. As long as they don't hit the portal Calloway, Mitchell, Charles, Eason, Willis, Nixon and Campbell will all play I'd assume.

Kaemen Marley-Transfer
Trinity Bell-Transfer
K'Rojhn Calbert-Transfer
Andison Coby-Transfer
Will Albright-Transfer
Dee Beckwith-Transfer
Morven Joseph-Transfer
Harrison Bailey-Transfer
Carlin Fils-aime-Transfer
Tee Hodge-Transfer
Brian Maurer-Transfer
Jimmy Calloway- I guess redshirt
Juwan Mitchell-hurt
Christian Charles-hurt
Tyus Fields-I guess will never play
Bryson Eason- I guess redshirt
Aaron Willis- I guess redshirt
Jackson Lampley- Guess won't play here
Dominic Bailey- I guess redshirt
James Robinson- Guess won't play here
Chris Akporoghene- Guess won't play here
Julian Nixon-redshirt
Miles Campbell-redshirt

Using NIL to bring some 3 stars that would have taken up scholarships before in as PWO can help mitigate the situation too.

Thanks. For me, a vacation like that is a huge leap to trust strangers with my family. Knowing that a VFL is involved with the company brings a lot of peace of mind.
Agreed about the trust factor. Our captains are all USCG Master captains and Dive Masters. The chefs/mates are all classically trained in culinary arts and vessel safety. We run a tight ship.
