This is basically what I'm saying. It's not 1 sided with 1 villian like everyone wants it to be. Everyone involved should have some kind of punishment. And I believe that was Wisconsin's head coach. Not the assistant. The assistant got hit later in the scrum for saying something/jumping into it.
It's bad. One team scores 35 in the 1st qtr and then can't score 15 in the 2nd, while the other team does the opposite. Seems staged.Yep - I tried off and on for awhile and generally gave up on it about 15 years ago. Tried to watch a couple of Celtics games to see Grant - but just could not stay with it.
If one of my employees walked by me and I reached and grabbed them by the arm to pull them back to me….I would most certainly be disciplined. It’s at a basketball gym and not an office…. Rules have always been viewed slightly different.I work as a leader in a professional setting. If I was in a disagreement with another employee, touched their elbow to try to explain my perspective, and what that resulted in was them pointing their finger in my face, scrunching my shirt in their fist, and striking one of my team... I wouldn't be disciplined. They would be fired, barred from the premises, and explaining themselves to authority.
(If for no other reason than to the organization itself protecting itself from lawsuits)
In a professional setting, there is the expectation that you should be able to non-violently touch/interact another person without violence erupting. Period.
If UM and the Big 10 want to go ahead and tell the world that the leaders of their men aren't expected to be safe and professional, that's their prerogative. If they refuse to fire Howard, that's what they are doing. If they discipline Gard for touching another coach, they are saying that one should expect violence for touching an elbow and speaking to someone (which is admitting that you do not have the expectation of professionalism).
Gard was the only one to touch Howard and it wasn’t a “grab”. The assistant who received the slap/punch wasn’t close enough.I saw a video a few minutes ago which was up close to the action and had live audio…. Howard did say…. I’m going to remember that to the assistant coach…. The assistant grabbed Howard’s arm to stop him to argue with him….It just grew from there…. I don’t think it as egregious as many are making it out to be…. I feel the assistant should be suspended for one game for putting his hands on Howard and Howard should receive a multiple game suspension for his open handed swing that made contact with the assistant coach.
1. This wasn't between two employees who know each other and work for the same boss, etc. 2. Gard didn't simply "touch" (he grabbed him and held him) him by the elbow and restrain him to say something (something he absolutely has no authority or right to do, especially after Howard tried to walk away). Gard aggressively got in his face too. So, in your analogy- you get back in your colleagues face and your colleague was mad in the first place because of something you said and y'all have a yelling match.I work as a leader in a professional setting. You seem a tad over dramatic.Howard raged violent over a time out call by Wisconsin. Think about that. A time out, one that that they could call per the rules of the game. Didn't matter if there was one second on the clock or fifteen minutes. Add in that it is a game - not back alley thuggery or a war - a game in front of thousands of people and possibly millions on TV. Howard's opportunity to show his displeasure was after the game on TV trashing them for taking a silly time out. Instead we saw what we saw. Speaks volumes to the guy's state of mind and character, especially after the Maryland game incident.
UM already is embroiled in a huge scandal in their football program defending numerous lawsuits over a former team physician for needless anal probing incidents with football players for decades. Another person in authority abusing his position and others. Now they have Howard. UM leadership is on the clock.
As to the big talkers on here who are willing to mix it up or look the other way, next time you get jacked out of the blue by a younger, much bigger guy over that Waffle House parking space you took that he wanted - take it like a man and do nothing about it. No big deal, just go all death match with him. lol
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Agree and why would the UM AD and President apologize to their Wisc counterparts for Howard’s actions if they didn’t think they were inappropriate.Howard raged violent over a time out call by Wisconsin.
