You know I think I heard the human and milk thing years ago on the Jack LeLanne show. For those to young he was one of the first TV fitness guys. He was a huge opponent of milk at one time for humans after they were out of their teens as I remember. Thanks for the info because unlike some, I ain't never been so smart I couldn't learn something.
It's still widely believed and repeated. There are very very few observations of other animals doing it, but its probably because its not an easy thing to trick another animal into doing. Humans fully domesticated things and have thumbs and invented ways to ferment stuff to lower the lactose content and so on. It's really wild when you look into the history of tolerance to lactose. It's an evolutionary marvel that blows my mind.

Seems like somewhere I read years ago that the Bedouins started using Camels milk for nutrition while going through the desert. Could you imagine being that first guy that look at a Camel than looked at his buddy and said...."HHmmmmm what about that Camel milk"......I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. Must have been pretty hungry, yes pretty hungry indeed.

The Camels milk thing to me is a tough one but what about Polk Salad. " Well, the last guys that tried it didn't do so well. Why don't we boil it a bunch pour out the water and boil it again and add eggs to it and scramble " ........ How many tries did it take and what made them keep trying......silly humans.

My great grandmother always picked a mess of polk and cooked it up. I never knew anyone else that did.

I've been hearing your Tuesday questions on Locked On Vols quite a bit recently.

I’ve tried to support the show by listening and sending in questions for that segment as I’m sure it has to be hard to come up with content for a daily podcast….. but been kind of disappointed with how unprepared he sometimes seems for these segments. Like he’s reading each question for the first time on the pod. Two weeks or so ago he did a Twitter Tuesday where three of the questions were regarding the RB depth chart, or some variation of that. So he answered it three times. 🤷‍♂️

I think my last question was if there were any current Vols who are in the portal that the staff would welcome back if they wanted on the team and he answered it by simply reading the 247 list of kids in the portal. I mean, I know who’s in the portal. I was kinda wondering if he had any knowledge of the team actively trying to keep a kid etc.

Idk. Just don’t feel like he does much to prepare for those.

I've tried several times to get some sort of help. I didn't qualify, because I was employed too recently and this last time because my tax return from two years prior was too much. Some people say it works for people really in need, but I'll sadly tell them they're completely wrong. It's badly broken.

If you are poor, you get healthcare. If you are wealthy, you have money for healthcare. If you are middle class, you are….screwed.
Exactly...especially lower middle class. I have been to Belize, so I am not going to call myself "poor" because I have seen what that really is, but I make "get by ok" money. What I don't have is insurance money for me and my wife both.

The crappy expensive insurance I could get, doesn't pay for any imaging, or any other procedures that it takes to find out exactly what is wrong with you, along with a high deductible that I don't have any money for...so I am basically screwed.

This is where me and my fellow conservatives careen wildly away from each other.

Agreed. I listen every day while riding around Jacksonville instead of the trash Gators/Jaguars stuff on local radio. I thought it was funny to recognize a VN screen name while listening.

I agree that Eric is often unprepared and I remember the show you are talking about. He had another Tuesday where he literally talked about every question earlier in the show and then laughed about how he should have read the questions first. I'm often surprised at his lack of insight beyond what an informed fan would know. His guests are the people who usually bring info. Boogie on Talkin Vawls seems better prepared and he admits that he is just a fan.

Eric really should listen to Josh Pate on how to host a podcast. I know Eric has a much narrower subject and less support but he could still learn something from Pate.

UT hospital was almost the death of me. Fun fact, May 18th, 2017, I was admitted to UT hospital after going to the ER. I spent like 10 days there, never getting better. Told them to just let me go home. They threatened to have me pulled of the transplant list if I left. When I threatened to leave anyway the finally contacted my liver doctor, thinking he'd convince me to stay. The fact I was in there at least a week before they even bothered to contact my liver doctor at Vanderbilt should tell you something. He asked for my labs, looked at the numbers, and said he wanted me transferred to Vanderbilt ASAP. So I got to take an ambulance ride from UT Hospital here in Knoxville to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. Pretty quick trip as the ambulance driver was doing 95-100 almost the entire trip. Anyway, if left to their own devices, I'm positively convinced the doctors at UT would have let me die. They don't do liver transplants at UT Knoxville, yet for some reason, it never occurred to them to send someone on the liver transplant list to the hospital that does liver transplants. Dumbasses.

Anyway, we're just minutes away from it being May 18th. Five years ago, I went into the hospital here in Knoxville, eventually got transferred to Vandy, and didn't get out of the hospital until July 3rd. My transplant was June 9th. It was October 21st before I finally got to come home to Knoxville. I had to stay in the Nashville area and be monitored after the transplant.

And May 18th is also my birthday.

Happy Birthday!

Not disputing your certain circumstances...I can tell you nearly exact thing happened to my MiL with Blount to UT.

I do not pretend to know which Hospital is best. It would make sense though that Vanderbilt would offer more specialized care, in a larger City, affiliated with a medical school.

UT saved her life, for sure.

Happy bithday Weezer. Enjoy the week.

I thought schools could not pay players? I guess since Californiastan is a 3rd world country ,they can do as the please

Proposed California bill would force schools to split football, basketball revenue with athletes, per report (247sports.com)

Where do they think the money comes from that will be split? Schools have few revenue sources. State funds, donations and company sponsors (ie: Nike etc). Most schools spend their revenues on salaries, recruiting and facilities. Most schools spend what comes in. Donations are already lower because of NIL so revenues are lower. Something will have to give. Less salaries for admin/coaches leads to poorly run programs. Fewer facility upgrades. Donors will be squeezed from both directions. Both NIL & facilities will suffer. Also throw in Title 9, all revenues will be split to all athletes even if their particular sports does not produce revenue. If passed, schools will be forced to eliminate non-revenue sports.

Knoxville. UT

Have you talked to the hospital social worker that was assigned to your case? Sometimes they are invaluable in helping with the medical side.

Our hospital has a required amount of community care dollars each year that we prefer to use with our patients in need. If it isn’t used, then we write a check for the unused amount to a charity of our choice. We prefer to use it with our patients, but it’s good either way. I would check if your hospital has that requirement.

Ask for your medical records. Find out why they brought in 6 different specialties. If it’s at the UT hospital, it’s probably because it’s a teaching hospital. You can challenge each specialty as to whether they were needed or not.

How long were you in the hospital? I don’t want to get personal, but if you want to send me an email, I will be happy to provide any help sorting things out to decrease your monetary obligations…
