Speaking of slump…what’s going on with beck I hope his bat wakes up before the SEC tournament and carries over to Omaha.

Beck is a good hitter but he has always been one of our least consistent bats….. he has improved his average and ops from last season but still two of the lowest on the team though….. I’m sure he will come up clutch for us in the coming weeks.

That’s why it makes me shake my head when everyone wants to change things when we struggle a little bit….. we are ahead of the curve on a lot of the training for both pitching and hitting…. It is showing on the field……A lot of our fans wanted to bench Luc when he struggled a little bit…. He is second on the team in homers….. has a 1.149 OPS and has a .471 OB%…. Unreal season by him.

And his defense at 1st is unmatched

He will be fine, his swing looks good. Probably just between his ears at the moment. It only takes one to get right if that’s the case. I predict his bat will wake up soon.

Yep, you can see it in his eyes. He'll get a hot game in here and be fine. That's the beauty of this team, that a good player can be in a slump and there's so many guys that can keep us going strong. Really fun times.

I found a blackjack oak (two) growing on one of my properties with no older trees on the property.

How is that even possible? The trees are on a boundary line with nothing but hay field on one side. (West)

iirc blackjack oaks are fairly slow-growing but they outcompete other species on extremely dry sites with thinner topsoils. Are these saplings or are they the same age as nearby trees?

Nvm just saw the other details. Probably leftover acorns from when it was logged. If there was a large blackjack on the site they typically use them like post oak.
