A roster full of average players isn’t going to cut it in the SEC. We need at least 3-4 all SEC guys on both sides of the ball if we really want to have a chance at getting to Atlanta any time within the next 3-4 years. Our DBs and LBs outside of the 2 that were drafted were absolutely atrocious last year and as long as we continue the trend of signing 2 LBs in each class and 3-4 safeties with just 1 CB while continuing to whiff in the transfer portal we’re never going to get there. I don’t want to hear any “we’re finally finishing 2nd with elite prospects and that’s a start” either because that’s been happening since Dooley, and Butch actually closed those elite players and so did Pruitt. They just couldn’t develop them. Is there a possibility that our staff can develop these potential under the radar recruits? Sure there is, but there is also a strong likelihood that Georgia, Bama, Florida, and even Diet USC can do the same while out recruiting us at every position other than QB. I’m still excited about Nico, but the overly optimistic fans need to at least admit that outside of us buying Nico that this staff has done a relatively poor job at recruiting both at the high school level and in the portal with defensive players

How many different ways and in how many different threads are you going to repackage your favorite message? We are going to miss on another hundred or so kids we kicked the tires with and offered. Please spare us.

Dude/Ma’am needs a therapist and other life ventures. Its sad that some ppl can be so pessimistic, doom n gloom, & a buzz kill over sports.

No way I'd go that far. Even with the misses.

We have the best player this cycle committed to us. Top player in TN and KY committed to us. And some good defense guys.

I definitely understand why you're disappointed. Because of how close our class was to being extraordinary.

However, when you analyze what this team needs and how we play. We need an Elite QB and great pass rushers. So far we're doing pretty good in that department. And still plenty of time to go.
I’m pretty optimistic and I really like what we’ve done so far, CB recruiting though honestly is concerning to me. Feel like we really need to add more here. I’m just more worried about the defensive side of the ball.

I’m disappointed too but definitely moving in the right direction as a team.
Nobody expected to have the team we had last year, after everything that happened. It was amazing and exciting. I really like Coach Hype. I like our AD and those VOLS letters are back. (Not to mention we have good basketball teams and baseball) I'm very optimistic about the VOLS future.

Every year I get pumped up for football season, convinced this year will be better than last. Last year was nice, but can we build on it? That's going to be the story of this season. I think we can. I hope we can. But yeah, I'd be lying if I said the BVS isn't nagging at the back of my brain.

Rock or whoever on Conyer to the Vols

Hilarious. They’re bemoaning Tennessee for “cheating” on NIL to land Conyer in this thread, while there are multiple other threads on their main page where they are crying abojt not using NIL to land recruits.

Keep crying that they went 10-3 and went to the citrus bowl and should have a better class - all the while just glossing over the fact that despite that, they’re still Kensucky and kids will never line up to play football there.

I was told by a local media guy that the Haslams have checked out. Jimmy and wife don't even live in Knoxville now, at least most of the year. @LA Vol has said Charlie E doesn't have any interest in supporting athletics. He does buy advertising so I thought NIL (legitimate marketing opportunities) might tempt him but idk. There's the guy that owns HT Hackney company, he's boosted in the past. Thunder is an oldie but not sure where he is. Owner of Ruby Tuesdays maybe? And, you've got Peyton. I'd be willing to bet he's contributing but I'm not sure what level.

Like most of the big money donors, the Ergens provide a lot of support to academics. Charlie is notoriously frugal, but he and his wife fund athletic facilities and provide professorships, endowments and scholarships to the Haslam College of Business. Jimmy and Dee Haslam are very active and established in their community in Ohio, but they have been generous in supporting facilities improvements at UT and have donated tens of millions to fund new business facilities, establish programs and provide endowed scholarships. Min Kao has donated $20+ million to academics to fund a new engineering building, scholarships and endowments.

Larry Pratt is lead donor for LNS renovations and has pledged $5 million to that, plus millions more to Neyland, TBA and Pratt Pavilion renos. Charlie Anderson has funded upgrades to the Anderson Training Center and others. Other donors have pledged a million or more to facility renos and endowments.

UT has many buckets to fill. A lot of donations go to academics and facilities—by request. UT is renovating all sports and training facilities, costs are escalating, renos are over budget, and it's costing hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars. Donors at all levels are being tapped again and again-- and some are tapped out.
