Conyer wasn't all about NIL. He chose UT over UK as the best fit for him now and for his future-- and it wasn't nearly the tough decision UK is trying to pretend it was. We wanted him, we got him and it was a good pickup for the Vols.
Eric Cain and Ben Whatshisface trying to over the top to Spyre and TN recruiting. Hubbs with the level headed 'its not like 3 top 10 players are following Arch to Texas.'

We do have to start landing some of these guys, for visibility, for TN, for momentum, and our future QB.

If we cannot recruit big time targets for our QB you have to wonder?

Oregon wants in the SEC now. At this point, geography does not seem to matter. The biggest factors now are TV footprint and history/prestige.

Rock or whoever on Conyer to the Vols

Hilarious. They’re bemoaning Tennessee for “cheating” on NIL to land Conyer in this thread, while there are multiple other threads on their main page where they are crying abojt not using NIL to land recruits.

Keep crying that they went 10-3 and went to the citrus bowl and should have a better class - all the while just glossing over the fact that despite that, they’re still Kensucky and kids will never line up to play football there.
That last paragraph is so true.. they will never come to terms with being kentucky in football

It’s like a competition to see which conference can find the most incongruent addition for their league.

I heard the ACC is looking to add Pacific University.

Poor poor Ole Kentucky u hate see it 🤭😏

Can someone please explain to me what these stupid signs are supposed to mean/represent anyway? Why do they want to act like they are gangsters?
Agree with your whole post but not sure we can make jokes about other coaches being fat lol. Kidding but I have seen that UK offered Conyer a big NIL deal in a few forums, and I have to think that’s just something UT staff put out to make it look like that wasn’t the deciding factor for him to come there.
Knoxville fans are too insecure and small to admit what they are doing. So to build their tiny self esteems up they make up lies to each other that UK offered Conyers huge HUGH NIL bucks, but he chose Knoxville to recieve winning defensive coaching.

When the facts and evidence is obvious and indisputable that UK is offering jack shat in NIL, dispute that, explain our 2023 class result
UT KNOWS what they are doing with NIL is against NCAA rules.

They are trying to make it appear that everyone else is doing it too.

Cheaters always accuse others of cheating in an effort to excuse their own cheating.

There is zero evidence of any football recruit receiving NIL offers to attend UK.

While every top recruit that gets to Knoxville walks away with a huge bag.
If I'm going to pay for a player, it won't be a 3 star SMALL DB. It will be at least a 4 star that can start from day 1!!!!

Maybe UK is just being more selective. Heck, Coach Stoops himself stated in an interview on KSR that he had a problem with using NIL for recruits.
I think NIL has thrown recruiting into a whirlwind and the old factors of building relationships, connecting with the parents/families/handlers are no longer the deciding factors in where a kid will go to school.

Money and perks are the drivers now. The schools that have been first to the feed trough with a wealthy collective are reaping first in the harvest of the top players.

UT and TA&M are two prime examples. They are both signing players they could never sign legally with an 8-4 and a 7-6 record for last year.

Players are cashing in now BEFORE the gravy train is dried up. To the benefit of the schools willing to bend the rules.

Win some, lose some. It's always been that way in recruiting. Not every player feels UT is right for them, and not every player is right for UT. In this new world of NIL, every player has a value, and that value isn't the same from program to program. There are a lot of targets left.

You couldn't have phrased that any better man wish more could understand that.

This will be even more true in the transfer portal in coming years. If a coach sees one or two weak positions standing between his team and next season's playoffs, then he'll place extreme valuation on experienced and talented transfers at those positions. We'll see some mind blowing transfer bidding wars.

You hearing anything on Seldon and Sham?

Miami has a billionaire donor that is out of his mind. Didn’t make sense to spend so much money on an offensive guard
I have to wonder (if the above is true) how that plays with the NCAA. The difference between a single rich booster throwing around NIL money, and a collective LLC that exists as a marketing company...?

May be that Miami's short-term win is a mid-term loss? May be that UT's short-term losses are mid-term wisdom?

Note: The folks who repeatedly shout that UT needs to tell the NCAA to "stick it", I'll soundly ignore your opinion as a dumb and ignorant opinion. Consider this my response...

In 6 years prior, we averaged 15 decommits per class.

The 2022 and 2023 classes combined only have 4 so far. And Tony Mitchell (2023) decommitted a year before Heupel even arrived.

Pretty incredible in these times.
Look at the brand of football we are developing and the atmosphere sports-wise we have. Everything on the up and up. These kids want to be here.

Now imagine losing 17 billion dollars in 2 months. Yup. Can't do that either 😅

Ruiz is doing both simultaneously. Fant-ass-tic.
I honestly don’t know too much about Ruiz and his business(es). Based on how hard it is to project high school players in CFB and the number of missed evaluations, I can’t imagine offering multi million dollar deals to various high school prospects is a lucrative business. It potentially makes sense for a QB, but definitely not an OG. To your point, it may make a lot of sense as to why he is burning through 17 billion in two months.

Good grief no team gets every player they go after, not even Bama. I still maintain we will sign a very good strong class. I wish we had landed all of the players mentioned but that doesn’t mean it’s over. Also I maintain Osborne hasn’t commited to anyone yet. If we land Seldon,Umarov,Smith and Ramil things will look better. Plus there is a entire senior season to play out and there will be some late bloomers emerge, and depending how our season unfolds could change a few minds as well. We are far from dead and there is still a ways to go into recruiting. We weren’t even on Mauigoa’s radar before getting Nico. Tate always wanted to go to OSU, I think he was always hedging us to get more from the buckeyes. Clemson was in on Burley as long as we have been. If we win 8-9 games or more this year recruiting will pick up. We’re far from done! We’re just getting started!GBO!
Yep
Gotta beat Florida and Pitt and keep beating uk, mizzou and the gamecocks…..
10-2 will send a message
IMO opinion that’s our ceiling
Winning fixes everything and we have the potential to be really good this year
