Can someone explain to me how the Mauigoa thread is staying on page one? I'm not hating on the kid..I think that he made the decision that he thought was in his best interest. I've had no desire to go to the thread since he spurned us and won't go back to it. Jmo
I can't blame the kid for taking the insane offer. I hate it, but I get it. If football doesn't pan out (which is just as likely as success, even for a 5*) now he and his family are set for life if they are smart with their money.

It sucks for us, but I get it.

I’m disappointed too but definitely moving in the right direction as a team.
I know...but I also know that to compete for championships, we have to win more of these battles. I just don't know how we can. We don't have pure idiots like A&M and Miami willing to throw massive fortunes at every single kid they want...I mean I don't blame them for not throwing stupid money at FM or Tate...or even that Wyoming WR that went to Texas earlier in the year.

I think we can get some good value players that are in less demand, but I just don't see us signing multiple $4-8 million types...I just don't know if we can compete for championships with that strategy.

It means that you cannot miss on evaluation and development of many players at all. I think we have good coaches at doing that, but that is a tall task.

And to top it all off, you have got to worry about the loony-toon billionaires not trying to poach the players that you do develop off of your roster every year.

The people that wanted this wild-west free-for-all are all stupid.

Oregon wants in the SEC now. At this point, geography does not seem to matter. The biggest factors now are TV footprint and history/prestige.
At this point, I'm waiting for people to start suggesting these conferences add the University of Hawaii and the University of Anchorage.

I'd take both for the trips. I'd also take USC and Oregon for the cheerleaders.

Things are swiftly moving to a Power 4 conference setup. These conferences need to set aside the need for divisions and let the 2 teams with the best records play for the championship. Your 4 conference championship winners are in the playoffs. What about the rest of college football not in the Power 4? Who cares?

4 isn’t enough. Need atleast an 8 team playoff.

Division champs play into the 4.

But jmo I'd prefer "16".

Take the SEC. SEC East #1 plays West #2. SEC West #1 plays East#2.

Each winner plays for the Power 4 conference title, then we're down to 4 teams.

1) Keep conference champions

2) Allow for more room/parity/"competing for championships"

3) Avoid ignoring possibly the best team in the country by allowing #2 teams in that had 1 loss. See: well, some of those bama teams

The problem with letting the 2 teams with best record play for the conference championship is that schedules aren’t the same anymore. The schedules are all unbalanced. UK plays Mississippi State as a cross rival, while we play Bama. With divisions, at least all teams in their divisions play each other.
