We’re probably favored in 9/12 games this season anyway heading into it. 8-4 9-3 probably the general expectation from the public. Hopefully we can hammer down Florida and snipe off Bama or Georgia. Preferably Bama since it’s at home this season
So, what is the minimum level of recruiting required to win it all?
Put simply, to win the national championship, college football teams need to sign more four- and five-star recruits (AKA “Blue Chips”) than two- and three-star players over the previous four recruiting classes.
This has been true basically as far back as modern internet recruiting rankings have existed.
Media will sometimes hype a team which has not met the threshold as a national title contender, but history has shown that is not a smart practice. Think Wisconsin, Baylor, Michigan State, TCU, Utah, Cincinnati, etc. over the last decade. Even the Bearcats, who made last season's College Football Playoff, were really no match for a blue-chip-built team like Alabama.
“HOW HAS THIS STAT PERFORMED IN THE PAST?”
- In 2021, Georgia had an 80 percent BCR and won it all, beating the No. 1 BCR team Alabama in the title game. Three of the four playoff teams were BCR teams as Cincinnati was the first crasher since 2017.
- In 2020, Alabama had an 83 percent BCR and won it all. All four Playoff teams were BCR schools.
- In 2019, LSU won it with a 64 percent BCR, and all four Playoff teams were BCR schools.
- Clemson, with a 61 percent mark, took it home in 2018. And all four Playoff teams were BCR schools.
- Alabama won it all in 2017 with an incredible 80 percent mark.
- Clemson took home the title in 2016 after signing 52 percent blue chips in the 2013-16 classes.
- In 2015, Alabama had a 77 percent mark.
- In 2014, it was Ohio State at 68 percent.
- In 2013, Florida State was at 53 percent.
- In 2012, Alabama was at 71 percent ...
- ... just as Bama was in 2011.
Who is missing?
You may wonder where some teams who have been on the list in the past are hanging out. USC, Tennessee, and potentially North Carolina are one excellent class away from joining, or re-joining the list.
Former members Washington, Florida State, and Stanford are all multiple good classes away, in theory.
Besides the fact that this has nothing to do with UT, spot what is wrong with this tweet.
Practically a part time parent to the grandson. Here every other week. His mom got a promotion and is doing well but that’s more work. Family. Glad your quality time with yours got more enjoyable. Always pulling for you.Been a good cycle between Dr appointments only about 20 pounds shy of my former average weight.
Honestly hard to ask for more.
And how's things in butchna world? Good, I hope.
Why Zach Evans is the obvious outlier. And if we’re giving out best RUNNING BACK awards to the best RUNNING QUARTERBACKS, the Doak Walker committee is going to need to do some retroactive ceremonies with the likes of Vick and Steve Young as well as Vince. This list is so bad...
Evans at TCU: 15 games total, 146 carries, 1063 rushing yards and 9 TDs while adding 206 receiving yards and 1 TD
LT leaves the school as their leading rusher with 5387 yards (1638 more than anyone else in school history) and 56 rushing TDs (25 more than anyone else in school history)
Like did the dude just sort by YPC or something? lol
But then for Baylor they pick Walter Abercrombie who had a killer career there...but Shock Linwood had less attempts, more rushing yards, more TDs and a higher YPC...maybe ignored cause he played for Briles?
Iowa State: I'm okay with Hall it's close with Troy Davis though...but Hall has far more TDs and added so much more in the receiving game.
OK State: I love Barry, so I agree with this...but if the list is about what they did in college Thurman Thomas had a far better career there
OU: Agreed that it's AP, but a strong case can be made for Perine that I personally wouldn't argue against.
Kansas State: no brainer
Kansas: Again, is this about what they did in college as a RB or something else? Gale was special but they've had 3 RBs finish their careers with over 3500 rushing yards. Which is almost 1k more than Gale had. I think I'd go with June Henley here...3841 rushing yards and 42 total TDs
Texas Tech: could make a case for James Gray cause of TDs, but Hanspard did what he did in 3 years there and is their only RB to eclipse 2k in a single season
Texas: HOW do you not pick Ricky Williams?! 6279 rushing yards vs 4443, 72 rushing TDs vs 40, 6.2 YPC vs 5.8
WVU: Steve Slaton I'm okay with, more impressive is Pat White with just 20 more attempts had 500 more rushing yards for his career...but Slaton had 3 years with at least 1k rushing in each season while also scoring at least 16 rushing TDs each year as well. He also had 2 seasons adding at least 300 yards receiving. I think he should have returned for his senior season and he could have really cemented himself at WVU by surpassing Avon Coburne for most career rushing yards.

As in Dobbs with us and the previously cited Youngs, there’s a difference in OPPORTUNITY when you’re discussing ballcarriers and quarterbacks. Defenses gear up to stop running backs out of set formations. Many many rushing yards by a mobile QB are garnered when plays break down. It’s why I don’t believe that some of the legendary rushing QBs would hold up as full time running backs. They’re different positions and should be honored as such.Still, saying something when you pick a RB that's behind the QB he played with in rushing yards and YPC...
"he's the best RB our school EVER had...if ya don't count the QB he played with!"
What Dufuskie kind of name is that? It’s definitely touristy. That’s really all it is. Classier than the dirty Myrtle. But it’s all tourist. No one really lives there. Still will be a great vaca. Only an hour or so from Savannah and not too far from Charleston either. Boat day trips to some islands like dafuskie can be fun. They do live music or did before covid out there.
