Hey serious question based off the SEC preseason media poll--- I don't quite understand why so many have KY so high? They have a good QB and a few other skill players (RB), but just not seeing it, what am I missing? I see they have a very easy schedule, is that it? I thought they graduated quite a few linemen...

Schedule, QB (overhyped imo), coming off 10 win season and a 2nd place finish in East.

McElroy and Cubelic not very high on the Vols. Think the defense is worse than last year, wondered why we didn’t hit the transfer portal harder, don’t play complimentary football. No depth defensively and said that’s not a good recipe for second half of season. Can we play 4 min offense and take foot off gas when needed? Said yea we can score points but that’s about it. Leave defense out to dry a lot. Basically said the way we play isn’t how you win championships. Questioning some of Vols hype and don’t understand some who say Vols are 3rd best in conference.

I honestly think we are a bit overhyped myself, and our main question mark going into the season is certainly our Defense and depth there... We caught a lot of teams off guard last season who didn't take us seriously, but now everyone knows our game plan. If we can step up on Defense and legitimately take our foot off the gas on offense and slow our scoring possessions down, stay healthy on D, then we can win anywhere from 7-10 potentially if we are firing on all cylinders.

Hooker is going to have to stay calm in the pocket and protect the ball (I know he didn't turn it over, but all of us saw several times where he was inches away from a strip ball when he would take off and do his spin move)... Not having Velus and Payton is going to be a bigger loss than most think. We must have Bru eligible and step up and be the WR he has the potential of being. Oline MUST step up and a few guys have to take that next step in consistency and development. Small, Wright, and JWT are going to be very important in the balance of our game plan.

Several Frosh are going to have to develop fast and contribute early...

Lots of if's and must's this season... we don't hit on several of these and it unfortunately will be the difference in 7-5 and winning 9-10...

If we can hit on most of these, we will be once again very dangerous and in EVERY freakin game we play until the whistle... That alone is going to be a great feeling compared to years past.

Hope Byron Young has a great year. But I do think 1st team is being generous at this point.
But also if you told me he would have 9-10 sacks or more at the end of the yr I wouldn’t be surprised. Had around 5.5- 6 I think last yr and missed 2 games. Dude had no idea what he was doing really but the light bulb was coming on in the last part of the yr. Just like Omari Thomas.

Some people forget that you have to score more points than other team to win. If they cannot stop you, then they cannot beat you. We are not to the level of winning championships, but you can win 9-10 games with an unstoppable offense. Going from Pruitt to a championship will take more than two years.

i wouldn’t say they know our game plan. It changes weekly and golesh even said they didn’t use half the playbook last yr.

I’m only a couple of years removed from my history degree. Those four years I read enough books for a lifetime. I’m sure I’ll get the love for it back eventually, but not yet lol

Maybe not. I was a heavy book reader up until college, then a gradual decline over the next few years down to zero. After that, no more books other than technical reading.

By "game plan" I meant our overall style/speed of play... knowing our Defense will wear out due to lack of depth if they are successful with long sustained drives that turn into points. Many games last year were decided on the fact we couldn't get off the field on 3rd down...

I think Jabari Small will be on an All Sec team the end of the year. I think ......if he stays healthy...will have a big year.

This is certainly the key--- played hurt the second half of the season when glass ankles was out... Apparently they have been working on this and are optimistic we see a new and improved Jabari, which would be great.
