I would be surprised if we sweep UK, SC, Mizzou and Vandy again this year. In a rush to proclaim we are on our way back, I think fans were too quick to call that an expectation rather than what it was, a hell of an achievement in year one.

Vandy is an FCS team sure, but those other three teams are not the trash can programs they used to be.
I see the same results as last year and I do not think the Ky game will be that close. Heups offense in year 2 is a lot better and the only real concern is our D and being able to get stops on 3rd down.

A man can change. Someone gave me the book to read so I obliged.

He actually writes a bit about Tennessee and Fulmer's staff. Tale as old as time: Very interested in being a Vol - but was ignored on recruiting visits and not prioritized.

If someone gave me that book they would be slapped with it toot sweet.

The one redeeming part to UK's 10-win seasons (besides the fact that we beat their 2 greatest modern teams ever 😅) is that they beat Florida both times.

I'd much rather have some middling UK team than a UF team that takes off and peaks.

So if a school signed a lot of those 3 stars that got drafted instead of the statistically better 4 stars that did not they would not be a better team?

Star based statistics are so flawed because the services using the best info available, hand a bunch of HS juniors 4 stars as the best 300 to 400 players and then if that does not play out Do not bump them back to 3 stars. Then to keep their roadmaps in line don’t have enough star slots left to elevate the late bloomers.

Then after 3-4 years some properly rated low star guys explode into ball players too and get drafted instead of the higher star guys too.

Percentages aside how else did 450 low star guys get drafted while about 250 4 stars did and 1000 did not? BTW what happened to the 40% of the 5 stars that did not get drafted over that same 3 year period?

I simply don’t think the accuracy of the star givers can be used to prove anything other than it is an impossible task.

It goes back to the ole meeting for a CEO. He asked accounting WHAT ARE THE NUMBERS and they supplied them. Then he asked a statistician WHAT DO THE NUMBERS SAY?
To which the statistician replied. WHAT DO YOU WANT THEM TO SAY?

Bet the heavy hitters are not blindly digging into the 4 star pool, but only in the upper reaches. That data will be hard to find.
Yep. Our goal should be in the top 25 in recruiting. All the teams above us are wrong on their evaluations. Right

I think USCe will be improved vs 2021. However, Rattler can have a bad attitude when things don’t go his way. If they have early struggles he’ll likely check out.
I can see him throwing a temper tantrum when he realizes that his team is severely out-gunned in a really good league, and he gets beat up worse than he ever did at ou. In his frustration, he tears the locker room apart with the coaches not disciplining him and they don’t make a bowl

I trust in Willie's development.

Never ever understood some folks' knock on him. It is silly.

The knock was our DBs regularly got roasted especially on deep balls. And, despite what he’s done at UCF, and the improvement we saw last year, there wasn’t a lot of development his first time around here. See E-Man, NFL starter, who didn’t get drafted because he was not good here.

There are plenty of possible reasons, but the criticism wasn’t crazy.

In all fairness, our DBs didn't exactly shine when he was here before. BUT, the flip side of the coin, he wasn't the DC so it wasn't like he chose the scheme we ran.

This is where there is a misunderstanding.

I’m very much pro-UT. I love Heup and I love our recruiting and I’m freaking pumped for the season.

Things I am anti:

- fake insiders
- bashing recruits who choose another school
- the UK bball fan mentality where every other program is cheating, their players suck, and everything about them is horse poop

Me pointing out easily researchable facts like “hey we also schedule 3 laughable cupcakes every year” isn’t being anti-UT.
This post is a little bit of hyperbole IMO. You act like there are a lot of us on here who act like that. Every fanbase has its crazies, and we have @Weezer and @Jackcrevol but come on.

The year before he came we were 13th (out of 14 teams) in Opposing YPA

We immediately jumped to 9th in Year 1, then 7th, then 6th and 6th.

As far as opposing passing QBR, we were 11th the year before he showed up. Then:
8th
5th
3rd
5th

All while us often recruiting ~middle of the league.

He's sent plenty of guys to the league, from here and even UCF.

The secondary stats when willie was here was the best that we had in years…. Even better than several of the chavis years.
It's like people just had something against him.

Or more likely they have their "burned-in memories" aka they remember singularly bad instances that stuck with them...rather than looking at large volumes of plays and data...reality.
