Im just glad I finally see someone on here talking my traffic ADT language.
For real though, the Blount County area would be my pick if I moved to east TN even though Knox County has always been my home away from home. The proximity to the back door to the Smokies, easy access to K-town, and rural lifestyle all speak my language. Gods country, IMO.
Other options and more rural would be somewhere on the Plateau. Tons of scenic destinations, good golfing, and cheap living abound, but Im partial to the area being from Cookeville.
Im hoping its thjs guy:
2. OT John Cook, Central Arkansas
Cook was dominant at the FCS level, starting 24 games the last two seasons. The 6-foot-4, 320-pound tackle was a second-team FCS All-American in 2017, earning the Southland Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year honors after helping UCA finish second in the league in scoring and total offense.
Simonton mentioned him earlier

Thanks to all for providing the insight on ET.
So the summary as I see it:
Sevier County is not good because of crowds (and I would also assume high real estate prices?). Does that apply to the whole county? Except Seymour?
Blount County would be good. Doesn't surprise me. We have our eye on that area. We've camped in Townsend before and liked the area, but that was as visitors. Townsend is Blount County, right?
Tri-Cities is good except Bristol.
Someone mentioned Erwin. How is that area, other than beautiful?
I agree with those who mentioned western NC. We've spent a lot of time there, especially the BRP and surrounding areas, which is one of our favorite places on earth, and Asheville, where our youngest daughter use to live. I almost took a job in Bryson City several years ago, but now I don't think WNC is an option. It seems too expensive to me, probably because of gas prices, state income tax, and house prices we saw in the Bryson City area when we almost moved there.
Thanks again for the info. I still welcome more.
Erwin is just a few minutes south of Johnson City, so it is the tri-cities area. I dont know what that guy griping about Bristol was talking about. I love the whole area. Lake Wautauga is right there close to JC and Erwin, and if you like a small town, but close to bigger town vibe, Elizabethton and Jonesborough are nice too. There are a ton of awesome outdoor activities, and good eats and drinks all around the Tri cities area, without the stifling crowds of the Smokies. I would live somewhere in that area if I could.
I don't think anyone is griping about Bristol, but it is a common theme around here that Bristol is generally the least desirable of the three cities. If I had to live there it would be just fine though.
Erwin, Elizabethon, and Jonesborough are essentially greater JC. Elizabethton folks might argue otherwise.
Tri-Cities is about 500ft higher in elevation and generally a few degrees cooler than Knoxville. Just enough to knock the humidity down. A little less heat in the summer and a bit more snow in the winter. Family is from Knoxville, but I've lived here for 37 years. Still a big fan.

When we moved here there was nothing but French's Market and Sevier County Bank branch at 441/411/Boyd's Creek intersection. Rolled the streets up after 7 PM except on Friday nights in the fall. DOT average daily traffic count 1985 was around 10-11,000. Now it is 29-30,000.

The electoral committee ordered the opposition party to disband on some technicality, the media is state controlled too.
The ruling party began to redraw the boundaries of voting districts to assure they would win more districts.
None of the pundits saw this coming. Truly an uprising of the people

From my understanding, Malaysia is strongly politically influenced by China. So I wouldnt be so sure this isnt what they wanted.
Anecdotal example
When your fly into Malaysia, they very first thing you see when you step off the plane is a sign with a stick figure being beheaded and a warning that drug smuggling is illegal and punishable by death.
That freaks us out a little bit.
20 minutes later we get into a cab and one of the first things he says to us is you guys looking for any drugs? I can help you get whatever you need
We explain to him the sign we saw and he tells us something to the effect of oh yeah, all the drugs are Chinese controlled. They dont want you bringing any drugs in or taking them out. But authorities look the other way here and as long as you are buying from the Chinese
