it's really cool to see all this happening. but the sad part is this just gets us to "par" structurally with the big boys in the league. to think we've been going about this the last 10 years or so with one hand tied behind our back.
glad that's being rectified.
5 months ago is late November. Maybe not under Fitzs watch, but likely in a time with no coach on staff. Having said that, the budget for the floors would have been done in spring of 2017, and the bids would have been done in fall of 2017. Still, the smart solution is to delay construction until the new staff is in place. UT would either do a change order on the bid for time extension/changes or rebid the project to meet different specs.
All I know is that my head would be on a platter if I did that on one of my projects.
Thanks for the info. So add it to the Currie mess? Youre spot on about ordering and installing changes before the new S&C coach is even hired. Should take it out of his settlement.
The timeline sure works out that way. Not a major gaffe, but still poor management by Bahama John that is indicative of what was going on. Even still, I wouldve let it ride for a year at least if I were Fulmer or Fitz, but who knows, maybe taking out the machines tore it up.
I'm glad we're investing in the program and Fulmer is seeing that PruittCo gets whatever is needed-- and some things that really aren't-- but the key drivers of the Alabama Model are an exceptional football coach and the best roster in CFB. When your coach is Nick Saban, your three-deep is the best in the country and you draft the top recruits year after year, you're going to succeed at a level few teams can match. If a new old-school weightroom and more assistants help us get the players we need, I'm all for it. But that's just part of the equation.
Is it the chicken or the egg? You have to start somewhere. As long as Pruitt makes progress, he will get it rolling. Just show some competence and win 6-7+ games. That's all it takes.
No, the new staff wanted new everything. They gutted it to send a message. The previous staff tried to make workouts cool and fun, so there were mirrors and lights and music. The new staff wants none of that vibe. They want it to be functional and all-business. It's a very workmanlike approach-- you come to work out not hang out, it's not supposed to be fun and we're not going to make it cool to make you do it. They're instilling discipline and trying to build a strong work ethic. Money well spent.
Like I said, I'm all for everything that has been done and expect it to reap results, starting this year. But ultimately, Bama has had Bama's run because they've had Saban.
So I'd say we have the egg. We don't know yet what kind of chicken it'll be.
