I don't want to sacrifice the 2019 class to go from winning 6 to 7 or 7 to 8 games. It ain't worth it. We need to build for the long term not for the short when this season isn't a championship run anyway

I think trying to compete and win now by taking transfers sends a CLEAR message to the whole team

Bring it. Play it inning football. Or you will be replaced

exactly. if you want to give up and not compete and slack around, he'll replace you with someone who does.

Cb is our weakest position on the team imo

It may be but CB is just like RB it’s so dependent on the line in front of them. If we can’t rush the passer it doesn’t matter if we have primetime at corner. I’m good rolling with the young guys we have + Taylor. With warrior and a better safety over top of them.

It might be

Here's another reason I don't want a grad transfer there.

Play Taylor and let him develop into a great player over a grad guy. It pays off in the future

I agree with you. I don’t think we need a grad at Corner. If we get a good pass rush we are more than fine at corner.

Hubbs said on podcast Pruitt would take 3 more grad transfers if he can get them; 2 OL and 1 CB. Likely takes at least 1 OL and a corner.

Love it! The main reason is because this tells me we have a winner as a coach...he wants and knows he needs to win now. Winning an extra game or 2 with grad transfers gives even more ammo to recruit the studs that will take us where we all want to be.

The problem is there is an expiration date on all these firings. At some point you have to coach up who we have. I'd rather coach up guys that can develop and win big for us a few years down the road over a grad guy

I understand what you guys are saying. I just think CJP ( and I agree) thinks changing the culture is the most important thing

This team just went 0-8 in the SEC

So you think you’re the starting qb huh? Here’s a grad transfer

You think your the starting TE. Here’s the top juco Te in the nation

You think you’re the starting RB? Here’s a grad transfer

Oline? Here’s a juco. Here a big time freshman. Looking for a grad transfer

He’s moving people into all types of positions

Message being no one is safe and you better bring it!!!

I respect that but there has to be middle ground and a plan for the longterm future. Imo taking a large ground of grad transfers hurts the lomgterm outlook

Not sure I buy that aspect of it at all - as in, I don’t think that’s why he’s bringing several in.

I think he’s doing it to win short term, which, while important, I don’t want to see a fifth of a Recruiting class taken up by grad transfers. I actually agree with Bruin - an extra win isn’t important enough to justify it. I know the counter argument is if that win means a bowl game, but I’m not convinced these potential transfers are difference makers in that regard.

Is that extra win important enough if it’s a bowl game? Say the difference between 5 and 6 wins regular season

The thing about the win now mindset is it could help with future recruiting. Winning 6 or 7 games looks much better to recruits than 4 or 5. I get wanting to save those spots for the future though.

See the last sentence of my post.

I saw. I’m asking. Because that extra win and bowl game (which we are right on the fence at considering our O/U win total by Vegas is 5.5) would mean double digit extra practices with this staff and tangible improvement to point to that would help in recruiting.

First of all, no grad transfer beyond the ones we already have are going to have any impact on our Vegas total. But, it’s kind of academic since I don’t think they would be the difference makers to cross the threshold in your premise, so what the hell, I’ll double down and say I’d rather have the spots in the class.

I’m looking at them as a whole. Scenario: chryst never comes and JG gets hurt game 3. I don’t think any way we make a bowl game with McBride.

They may not have any impact on Vegas total but they could be the difference in a couple plays during a game that could swing us to a bowl game. Which we desperately need right now imo

I’m not. I’m talking about 3 additional ones. Truth be told, I’d be good taking another in the secondary.

Idk if they are any out there Bc i don’t follow recruiting but man i would love to have a safety to put beside warrior and a pass rusher.
