I was reading the quotes by "anonymous" SEC coaches about this team not having much talent, especially on defense outside of Warrior and DK if healthy. While I do think the switch to a 3-4 (although we will mostly be in Nickle anyway) might take some time we do have some talent on this team. DK, Tuttle, Kongbo?, Taylor, Bituli, Phillips, Warrior are all good players that with the right coaching can play really well. We do lack depth, especially on the DL and OL but CJP is still looking to shore that up a bit with Grad transfers and JUCO's. On offense, we need to find our play makers. Having JJ back will be big, and Callaway has talent. RB will be good with Chandler, Jordan (my breakout player this year), London and Banks. OL depth is an issue, but the coaches do seem to be trying to shore that up. I'm not saying we will win the SEC or anything, but I don't think we lack in talent like everyone is saying.

Don't forget JG for Heisman. Uh oh. A Vol football topic we can beat into the ground again. :)

Sure, Tennessee isn't loaded with talent like Bama and UGA; however, UT's biggest issue is the team culture. Pruitt has to wash the Butch Jones stink off of the program before we can return to prominence. Good news is that I think he, the new staff, and the quality players he is bringing in will have this team ahead of schedule (2019-2020 season)

Tennessee football: Saban's actions prove Vols could be good in 2018

Definitely a bias take and not all of it is completely factual (Kennedy will have more than one year). But I do agree that Saban wouldn't block us unless he knew what we could do with some momentum.

It would have made sense for him to target Auburn in trying to use this rule. The Tigers beat his team last year, keeping them out of the SEC title game with a chance to win their fourth straight conference championship.

But why would he specifically target the Vols too? Alabama has beaten Tennessee football for 11 straight years, and it’s not like Kennedy is central to the Vols future. He would only play on Rocky Top for a year, and that year is supposed to be a rebuilding year.

This proves one thing: Saban is taking Pruitt seriously when Pruitt says he expects to win big in 2018. It only makes sense. Why else would Saban deal with the PR nightmare of blocking a graduate transfer from going to Tennessee?

The Vols are not supposed to be good this year, so they shouldn’t be a threat to the Tide. But Saban must clearly know something about the graduate transfers and junior college transfers Pruitt is bringing in.

On top of that, he probably knows the implications of Tennessee football becoming an even bigger recruiting power if they have a very successful 2018. Seeing all that, Saban is clearly taking a stance against something that helps the Vols.

Again, he only does this if he views you as a threat.

I’ll never understand why, when there is a recruiting forum off topic thread, the football thread always gets hijacked with nonsense.

I recently brought this up. And those same posters simply acted like a middle school kid and created a new dumb off-topic discussion to be humerous. Freak should move all their crap into the off-topic thread.

we can manage the player threads a bit easier. So those off topic conversations get moved. And, like ron said, it helps that people tend to report those conversations.

I'd personally rather this thread be football only, and all the off topic go in the off topic thread, but i'm open to the will of the people.

👏👏👏👏

Had to outwork everybody? He’s dad was a long time nba vet. He’s had silver spoon and the best training his whole life lol. Sorry he’s not 6’9.

That why he went to a college basketball powerhouse? And most of his game is built on skills you develop through hard work (shooting, dribbling) and not being physically gifted with size or elite athleticism? Was he a lottery pic after dominating the NCAA tourney? I guess maybe he was only drafted as a favor to his dad and probably would've gone to the d league if not for Dell.

LBJ or MJ?

Curry was the 7th pick in the draft - thus being a lottery pick......

Post something to change the topic. I just tried to. Unfortunately it didn't seem to work.

Yeah I’m not understanding his reasoning there either

People act like it’s a miracle he’s in the nba. Dad a NBa vet thus being very wealthy and having better training than 99% of college athletes. Just Bc he went to a small school doesn’t mean anything.

Damian lillard, C.J. McCollum, kwahi Leonard, Scottie pippen etc. all came from small schools

Every pro athlete works hard lol. Just don’t tell me Steph is some underdog sob story lol.

Some who are less physically gifted have to work much harder than others. Surely you’re not gonna try to argue against this concept??

And who said anything about sob story? If he never played a minute of basketball he probably had a better life than most people.

Don’t act like he didn’t have to work hard to make it in the NBA though.

Well that's why I asked. haha. I thought he went mid first round. Still don't think he was given anything because of his dad other than maybe some good pointers on shooting form.

He was like the 4th PG drafted that year. And objectively better than the 3 drafted ahead of him.

My point is every pro athlete works hard. You don’t get there if you don’t. There been plenty of guards without elite athleticism John Stockton for example. Chris Paul too. I’m just saying i don’t look at steph as an underdog story based on his upbringing like a lot do.
