Recruiting Forum Football Talk LVIII

That’s because THERE IS NOTHING FOOTBALL TO TALK ABOUT. (Not directed at you btw)

I found a much happier Volnation existence when I accepted the fact that people sometimes like to talk about topics I’m not interested in and stopped letting it rustle my jimmies.

Fighting a losing battle to complain about it so just accept it and move on.

That why he went to a college basketball powerhouse? And most of his game is built on skills you develop through hard work (shooting, dribbling) and not being physically gifted with size or elite athleticism? Was he a lottery pic after dominating the NCAA tourney? I guess maybe he was only drafted as a favor to his dad and probably would've gone to the d league if not for Dell.

This.

It’s the biggest difference between Lebron and others. He is not as skilled as Curry. Doesn’t shoot as well or handle the ball as well. He certainly isn’t as talented or skilled as Jordan. But he’s a physical freak. Like I said the other day, if he were the same size as Jordan he’d be average at best.

Curry is as good as he is through hard work and development of skill. Big difference.

Tennessee football: Saban's actions prove Vols could be good in 2018

Definitely a bias take and not all of it is completely factual (Kennedy will have more than one year). But I do agree that Saban wouldn't block us unless he knew what we could do with some momentum.

i think it may have more to do with Saban being a prick than anything else.:)

i can't see a real scenario where he would/should concern himself with Tennessee, except, maybe, that last line about the recruiting momentum a 7 or 8 win season would have for us going forward. and i still think that's a stretch.

People act like it’s a miracle he’s in the nba. Dad a NBa vet thus being very wealthy and having better training than 99% of college athletes. Just Bc he went to a small school doesn’t mean anything.

Damian lillard, C.J. McCollum, kwahi Leonard, Scottie pippen etc. all came from small schools

Are those guys more physically gifted than Curry?

MJ's kids never made it. Because they didn't put in the work.

Recruiting is the only thing. Pruitt beat him for a couple players in 2018 and is off to a hot start now. If we have a good season this year recruiting will only get better. Saban doesn’t want that.

My point is every pro athlete works hard. You don’t get there if you don’t. There been plenty of guards without elite athleticism John Stockton for example. Chris Paul too. I’m just saying i don’t look at steph as an underdog story based on his upbringing like a lot do.

Agreed about Stockton. I don’t hate on him.

Some pro athletes are much more physically gifted than others, thus don’t have to work as hard. Agree or disagree?

CURry is a wayyyy better shooter and ball handler than Jordan...so who’s more talented. The whole skilled argument is so irrelevant to me. It’s like you’re punishing players for having a great arm, speed etc.

Of course players work harder than others. It’s part of the difference between good or great or being a bust.

You’re also severely underrating how insanely athletic Jordan thebdude literally randomly decides to be a pro baseball player lol.

Sure, but Jordan is better at everything else. Nobody is arguing Curry is the goat, except at shooting, which he is.

But Lebron makes his living driving the lane and either getting fouled or whining about not getting fouled. While he can do other things well, that’s where he excels. And why does he excel there? Because he’s an athletic freak. He isn’t as good as Jordan. Imagine MJ with Lebron’s body. Would’ve been absurd. Lebron isn’t as good or talented tho.

I’m certainly not. But Jordan is 6’6 and what? 215 pounds soak and wet. Lebron is 6’8 260-280 most likely.

I've never seen anyone refer to Steph as an underdog story. Saying he had to work a little harder because he's small and not very athletic is not the same as some human interest underdog story. Lebron may be the opposite. He really did have a much rougher childhood. But early on didn't have to work as hard due to his insane physical gifts. I'm not saying he didn't work hard. Just that he could get by on just pure size and athleticism early in his career.

Curry weighs 180 soaking wet and won back to back MVPs, one unanimous. He’s the greatest shooter in the history of the game.

Guy has worked his ass off to get to where he is. He has exactly 0 physical advantages over anyone in the league.

He doesn't want any part of driving and getting fouled with the game on the line.

I found somebody Curry has a physical advantage over.

LeBron makes his living being great at everything. He can play any position, facilitate, shoot, rebound, play defense, etc. Yes, his size/athleticism combo may be GOAT, but you can't minimize his accomplishments because of it. He is still highly skilled and puts a lot of time and effort into training. Jordan was also freakishly athletic, in case you have forgotten.

Follow-up: do you minimize the greatness of Shaq because he was so massive/athletic?
