Rejects hire rejects (Currie going for Mullen and schiano). Real hires real (Fulmer to Pruitt). I’m really excited for Pruitt but I wish Fulmer had been the AD from the start. Wonder who he would have gone after with a full coaching search.

I believe MSU's AD interviewed Pruitt as well.

I think we’re both smart enough to realize that we were talking about great QBs considering Manning and Shuler were the main topics so yes compared to them Alabama’s QBs have been very subpar. As another poster pointed out. LSU has had god awful QB play forever now but may have the best group of WR alumni in the NFL.

You obviously didn't read why that has happened at LSU. You truly do love to dig deep holes.

I'm a CJP fan after seeing him go to work a bit..

...that being said... I was pretty stoked about the Leach hire... if nothing else he was the polar opposite of Butch Jones and his I'll say anything to cover my own ass...

That and Leach offenses are just fun to watch... we wouldn't have won championships with him I don't think, but we would have been offensively competitive and fun as hell to watch...

And then you find out in the dumpster fire of a coaching search the one guy that you actually wouldn't mind was the "reason" for Currie getting fired... lol

I was THAT tired of Butchisms people... THAT tired of it hahaha

But yea... We're better off now, glad it worked out the way it did

At the time I liked the idea of leach but after this offseason I’ve changed my mind. The mods would have been working overtime during his fake obama video tweet fiasco lol and I don’t think he would’ve fit in culture wise. We needed someone like Pruitt that understands what kind of players are needed in the SEC. That said, could Fulmer have possibly hired a chris Peterson, Gary Patterson, GRUDEN?! Would be interesting to peer into a parallel universe and see. Like you said though, think things worked out for the best

Subpar means subpar. Bama QBs don’t meet that definition...much less the added “very”. They’ve outperformed ELITE QB’s when it counts or they wouldn’t have those NC’s. And Les Miles followed Saban and piggybacked a similar model. If you want to delude yourself into thinking that a generational quarterback doesn’t help a school’s recruitment, this was already an exercise in futility.

We're still Mullen it over...

I wonder if his recruiting can win big. He seems to do more with less but time will tell.

The 2 elite DL at miss state this year were his Guys.

Were they highly rated guys?

True, and now he has players at MS state saying how much they like the new coach better than him. Players love Pruitt. Will he be a great HC? I don't know. But Mullen won't win big if he can't recruit at Florida. Pruitt will out recruit him.

Aaron Murray on Pruitt:

Like it or not, this is the exact reason no one hired him up to the point we pulled the trigger. Georgia had the chance to promote him within and he interviewed with Mississippi State this year and they passed. His “hotheadedness” or whatever you wanna call it has been widely debated.

Doesn’t mean he won’t be successful, obviously, and I think he’s done a really good job so far; but it is certainly something to keep an eye on going forward.

I don't care what some idiot player says on twitter. I'd bet we have multiple players that think butch is a better coach than Pruitt. Doesn't make them right.

Alabama hasn’t had great QBs lol. Blake sims, Jacob Coker, Greg McElroy, jalen hurts are not good Quarterbacks. They execute a system.

For example Mcelroys senior year in games where he had to throw the ball 30+ times Alabama was 1-3. The one win coming against 6-6 Tennessee. Translation anytime he had to actually make plays and carry the team...he couldn’t.

I gave you the point that a generational QB can give a program momentum. But don’t tell me that high school juniors are lining up to play with Tua right now because he theres a good chance he won’t even be there by the time they get to Alabama.

My worry is that it’ll end up like Muschamp/Florida. We see glimmers of potential but the fans expect too much and just enough things go wrong to ruin it.
