Except he barely even got in the spring game with those limited bodies....he might can start at some point in season heck we don't really have much in his way. Sounds like he is getting his legs back from a post he had recently of hitting a strength goal. That is a good sign

Couldn’t field two teams with the number of OL sitting out. Did you want to go back to Butch’s points system?

Absolutely. It was the dumbest thing in the world for Jauan Jennings or Marquez Callaway to ever come off the field for more than a snap or two at a time.

And it was equally as dumb to run route progressions that took more than 3 seconds with the limitations on the offensive line.

But the dumbest thing was the amount of wide receivers we recruited compared to the numbers we took at offensive line and defensive line.

Butch!

You’re somewhat handicapped in a gun spread offense by not having as many easy plays and completions you can be creative with.

For instance you can run a PA pull pass to the RB/FB from like 30 different sets.

But looking out our route combinations last year it’s like our primary option a lot of times was a deep dig, a double move, or a deep comeback. It made no sense when you have struggles at QB and OL.

Not really. Hank had brought up Walter Brady as someone we had been talking to a while back but I recently read article that mentioned Bama getting involved and they have his old DL coach from Mizzu.

I saw some UCLA big timecommit got a release due to UCLA admissions taking too long but sounded like a west coast lifer kid.

Who knows with this staff. Not sure how we fit anyone with our numbers

It’s for the 19 class. It’s a traditional recruit.

I do think UGA and SCar finish 1/2 in the east, but I honestly wouldn’t be too surprised at any order of us, FL, Kentucky, and Missouri.

Yes, besides the GT game when the strategy was basically throw it to Callaway and let him work, it seemed like our entire passing scheme was play action, DL rush up the middle, wait for tiny Tyler Byrd and Brandon Johnson to come open on a 10 yard cross in between two linebackers.

Yeah predicting the exact order of UT, UF, Mizzuo, Kentucky is throwing darts while blindfolded. UGA up top...easy. Candy at bottom...easy. USCe at 2 is not easy but certainly understandable. Everything else is complete unknown.

Being picked 6th isn’t too surprising. I think 3-6 is pretty interchangeable and Pruitt is a huge question mark to most.

0-8 conference record is still fresh in most people’s minds.

We're coming off the worst season in our history. CFB analysts will be down on us until we prove them otherwise. It's just the reality of the situation.

Screw em. Prove em wrong.

I think that would be pretty close, i just think it’s gonna be tough to gauge who would start, Gooden or Emerson. Emerson could be a Barnett type talent and ball out. Then again he hasn’t played in a football since his junior year. But yep i think that’s your 2 deep in some form or fashion. I appreciate your charts btw, love seeing things on paper like that 👍🏻

This will be an unpopular opinion but I’m concerned about Emerson having a big impact at his current size. His sophomore film was incredible, when he was much lighter. He put on a considerable amount of weight for his Jr year and honestly looked meh to me. If I remember correctly he was working to lose weight or had lost weight for his Sr year and then got injured. So we really don’t know what he will look like playing at over 300lbs. Hopefully he hasn’t lost his explosiveness.

You may disagree with this but even thought JG isn’t a great runner. I thought we should’ve went all in on the read option, qb option, shovel passes etc. it was the only thing that could’ve slowed down the pass rush and helped our OL imo.

If you take the Tennessee out of it and you say. First year head coach (first job) takes 4-8 (0-8) team to 6-6 (3-6) with a chance to win a bowl game. I think 99% of people would take that from their program.

Yes, and more specifically, we should not have recruited QB’s that didn’t fit the system just because they were ranked highly on Rivals.

A&M has talent. Mississippi St over them is laughable to me.

Moorhead is really well thought of as an offensive coach. He has a QB. I have also heard that MSU has a very good dline. Some think Moorhead can win 8-9 games, but it will be interesting to see if he can sustain it.

I don't know what A&M has on offense.

So which is it?

Mehlen can’t recruit

Or

Mississippi St roster is loaded

Just trying to keep up here for future reference.

Not sure that MSU is loaded. But they have pieces. My question was whether or not Mullen could recruit at an ELITE level. Being at UF will help, but I don't believe he is an elite recruiter.

Recruiting to MSU has never been easy. Jackie Sherrill did it the best by exploiting the JUCO's year after year, until they went to the SECCG versus us.

Mullen recruited as well as can be expected there, adding some very talented players along the way. Nick Fitzgerald might be drafted higher than Dak. Chris Jones is a highly thought of DL. There have been quite a few players under DM drafted, and that will continue this upcoming draft.

I think he'll be fine at Florida. If/when he ever gets it going, they'll be a legitimate threat. There's a lot of hate for "Mehlen" on here but he changed the culture of that program and left it significantly better than what he inherited. No one can deny that he did an excellent job at a school and program that is, historically, one of the worst SEC programs.
