It's Charlotte. How on Earth would that tell us anything?
Chip Kelly's 3 seasons as a college football hfc include 3 conference championships, 2 Rose Bowls, and a BCSCG appearance. If anyone has earned the right to expect patience, it would be him. Pruitt hasn't done jack shite other than suck on the hind teat of some really good head coaches with loaded rosters. I don't know why you seem to think that mentioning one excuses the other. Apples and oranges.Chip Kelly has two wins.

I agree that they are concerned about donor support. Fulmer can sell the donors on what state the program was in when he/Pruitt took over without taking any blame from the past. What they're not concerned with is losing the casual fan. Those will jump back on as soon as significant progress is made.I actually think they cared a lot about winning this year. They expected to make a bowl, use progress as a recruiting springboard and build from there. There may not be much concern about losing casual fans, but UT cares very much about donor support.
Open up the play calling a bit. Give KC opportunities to throw downfield. See what he can do with his arm. Get him some reps and gauge how he can manage this O.
The perimeter passes and screens with the occasional long pass with JG is not going to get it done against Mizz, UK, and Vandy.
Nothing to lose by letting KC start.
I think that’s correct and probably the right move - just wish they wouldn’t have wasted the scholarships on the grad transfers they brought in. If you’re acknowledging that winning isn’t priority number one and that development and recruiting is, we didn’t need those guys to tie up three scholarships.I agree that they are concerned about donor support. I think they want to win. Pruitt has probably will lose more this year than ever in his career before. That doesn't mean, to me at least, that winning is the top priority. He will sacrifice wins this year for future success. I think you saw coach Barnes employ a similar tactic when he took over... Play within the system, practice ethics, culture, and execution. It's easier to take a loss in basketball to prove your point though. Jmo
Calculated gamble. When they did that I'm sure they didn't have the best analysis of the roster and culture within the program. I think things have changed a little since spring ball.I think that’s correct and probably the right move - just wish they wouldn’t have wasted the scholarships on the grad transfers they brought in. Stanford is 105th in total offense. Let’s not act they are some juggernaut now. All we do is throw screens and underneath and will very occasionally throw up a 50-50 ball. I would rather have the guy that has the quicker clock operate this offense.
Stanford quarterback Keller Chryst is last among the 12 quarterbacks listed in the Pac-12 in passer efficiency. He has completed 52.1 percent of his passes, well below the accuracy of every other regular quarterback.
Chryst threw too long on four potential big plays, including two intended for Donald Stewart and one for tight end Kaden Smith. Chryst bounced a short one toward Trent Irwin, threw low on a swing pass that Bryce Love couldn’t handle and threw too low on a 15-yarder toward tight end Colby Parkinson.
Worst of all, he ended the final two possessions of the first half with turnovers. On a 3rd-and-12 play, he threw into a crowd and the resulting interception enabled the Aztecs to go just 15 yards for a touchdown. Then he failed to avoid a blitzing cornerback, who should have been blocked by Love, and lost the ball when he was sacked.
His final pass of the night was an underthrown deep try for J.J. Arcega-Whiteside that was intercepted in the final minute.
Chryst lost in his second straight start after winning in his first seven, but in truth, Stanford hasn’t beaten a team with a winning record under his guidance. Last year, Arizona, Oregon State, Oregon, Cal and Rice were well under .500. Stanford beat North Carolina in the Sun Bowl, but he was out after his knee injury in the second quarter. Stanford crushed Rice again in this year’s opener.
And it really seems like the hits are starting to take a toll on JG and affect his throwing. And the coaches still think he gives us a better chance to win.Try watching Stanford highlights. Had a better line and a better ground game. He is mediocre at best. There’s a reason his coach ran him off. There’s a reason why 9 weeks into the season, JG is playing ahead of him.
This is wrong thinking. I think it's more of Pruitt knows what he has with JG and he's afraid KC will be more of the sameAnd it really seems like the hits are starting to take a toll on JG and affect his throwing. And the coaches still think he gives us a better chance to win.
I'm glad we have KC as a backup, but those who think he's a good QB are kidding themselves.
