Maybe we can bump up the buyout to 35 million too while we are making stupid business decisions out of spiteful rather well than sense.

To me, giving Pruitt an extension and increased buyout after a disappointing loss would send a powerful message to recruits to say, don’t listen to the noise - this man you like and respect will be here your entire college career.

We've got to think outside the box to get out of this rut. I believe our program can compete at a high level again but this is one of several bold moves I think we should make to expedite that process.

Having a university that bends and sways at every behest of a volatile fanbase won’t get us there.

You're just yanking people, right?

Would love to see that. Maybe then 85% of our completions won’t be screens or flares.
Stop Hank. It’s getting to be overkill with the JG hate.

We’ve see games were we constantly attacked downfield with JG at QB. When have see both from him at this point.

The coaches game plan this game was to get the ball out quick over and over again.

Final thoughts, I really believe recruiting this year is going to feel once more like a dud. I could be wrong but my instincts tell me Pruitt won’t be able to sell the “help bring Tennessee back” dream that Dooley and Butch could, mainly because we’ve been down so long and recruits don’t trust us to give Pruitt time to build before we toss him out. We will get a nice class with some really nice pieces, but I don’t expect anywhere close to a quick fix elite top 5ish class. Time will tell!

Hank made my ignore list a while back. You might consider the same.

A powerful message that we run a business like idiots. I’ve nothing against a raise at the end of the year if he’s earned it, but he’s not there yet.

Chip Kelly's 3 seasons as a college football hfc include 3 conference championships, 2 Rose Bowls, and a BCSCG appearance. If anyone has earned the right to expect patience, it would be him. Pruitt hasn't done jack shite other than suck on the hind teat of some really good head coaches with loaded rosters. I don't know why you seem to think that mentioning one excuses the other. Apples and oranges.

LOL you mad, bro?

This is something I posted in another thread about where guys said we did not have enough depth but it wasn't the fault of CJP or the staff. Also, seen where others say he is just using coach speak when taking responsibility. Here are my feelings on it. I wanted to post it here to share with the part of the board I spend almost all my time. TIFWIW

I understand everything you guys are saying. But like CJP said, it is his fault. If my company struggles in sales, it is my fault even though I can't do everything for everybody. Now, he came into a poor performing company. Before I had my own, I worked for a Fortune 500 company and came into a responsibility where it was way under the goals of performance that were expected. Thirty year plus employees and a guy who had retired and coasted several years to get there. We struggled but made progress and eventually got it to where it needed to be after a few years. Got rid of a lot of employees (players) and hired some young new eager to show what they could do employees (recruits) and built things the right way with no shortcuts under the hand of a great operational VP (AD). We had a couple of tough years getting there and whose bonus was affected? The coach (me). However, I eventually got offered what I had been working almost a decade to get which was a promotion. I actually didn't take it and went to work for a smaller company but had a choice to live where I wanted and not have to be away from my wife and kids as much. Then went to start my own start up. Regardless, the failures along the way were still my ultimate responsibility to get corrected and obtain results. I do believe CJP feels the same way about this job. We fail and it is his fault regardless of the hand dealt. He knew it when he took it. Now, I hope the AD and powers above him as well as the rest of us fans will give him the same chance to turn it around that I was given. It takes wise and mature people to have patience. And yes, we have had plenty of it but it is not going to help to get impatient now. Take the little victories (Auburn) and the progress you see and enjoy it.

My final post on the real data that will apply to the schedule going forward. Based on Total D stats, our D will be ranked in a similar range as Vandy and Mizzou while being much worse than UK after yesterday's games. Our total O will be behind all of the others, although Mizzou has been trending down while their D has been trending up. They all have records and schedules that will give them reasonable shots to get to a bowl game. Blame it on strength of schedule or whatever, doesn't matter as they will get the extra 15 practices the Vols will miss if our guys don't step up a notch and beat them. We know what doing things the same way with some of the same players in key positions will provide, 4-8 and maybe 5-7.

None of us have any impact on what CJP does or who he plays where and when. However, fans/posters need to realize our O is dead last in the SEC in Total O. Helton did a remarkable job in dumbing down the O enough for JG to be serviceable yesterday to get 24 points on the board. But that was shut down in the last 20 minutes because USCe made better adjustments and Helton had nothing else he could do. When JG has to think or analyze what he sees, it's over.

As posted above, there is opportunity for that to change this week if KC starts. If he does well, he should start against UK. The O needs a lift and it is not getting it from the same guy that is leading it to last in offensive output in the SEC.

It is time and you can still use JG in a training role to get prepared for next year if KC really gives us a better shot to win. I have not seen what the coaches have in practice so KC or JG giving us the best shot to win is something I have to hope they know what they are doing.

A powerful message that we run a business like idiots. I’ve nothing against a raise at the end of the year if he’s earned it, but he’s not there yet.

It’s notable to me looking back that the best stretch of modern Tennessee football also happened to be a time of remarkable head coaching stability: two head coaches over 30 years.

It’s also clear from the last ten years that we are simply not a plug-and-play institution where we should expect new coaches to recruit big and win fast. LSU, Texas A&M, UF, UGA, etc seem to be able to do that, even when the coaches are mediocre overall. It’s just the difference in in-state talent. Dooley and Butch had some high rated classes but they were clearly top heavy and the kids they filled them out with just can’t hack it in the SEC. Meanwhile Florida grabs unheralded instate three stars to fill out their classes and they wind up being NFL prospects.

I say we manufacture that stability Tennessee needs from the outset.

Manufacturing stability can lead/continue mediocrity as well. Pruitt hasn’t shown enough yet to warrant a greater commitment than he already has. Thinking outside the box just to say you did isn’t really productive either.

Lol doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results if the definition of insanity.

Keep trotting JG out there and keep losing games you should win. It’s time to change something up. Our passing offense is limited to 90% WR screens, flats, and drags. South Carolina finally caught onto it and dared him to do something else and he couldn’t.
